Abstract: PURPOSE: A method for diagnosis of deterioration of a particulate filter is provided to accurately measure deterioration of a particulate filter by spraying the fuel after regenerating the particulate filter. CONSTITUTION: A method for diagnosis of deterioration of a particulate filter coated with an oxidation catalyst is as follows. The deterioration of a particulate filter is diagnosed by calculating the heating efficiency because the fuel is sprayed after the particulate filter is completely regenerated(S220,S270,S230). A complete regeneration step of the particulate filter repetitively operates on a periodic basis. The fuel is sprayed when a set up time passes after the particulate filter is completely regenerated.

Abstract: PURPOSE: An exhaust gas purification device is provided to improve the regeneration efficiency of exhaust gas by raising the temperature of exhaust gas, which is discharged from a vehicle operating in a low temperature region, to about 350°C. CONSTITUTION: An exhaust gas purification device comprises a diesel oxidation catalyst, a filter catalyst, and a controller. The diesel oxidation catalyst reduces hydrocarbon and carbon monoxide and generates nitrogen dioxide using catalyst. The filter catalyst collects particulates at the rear side of the diesel oxidation catalyst and eliminates the collected particulates through reaction with nitrogen dioxide. The controller detects the temperature of exhaust gas and maintains exhaust gas at the set temperature in order to naturally regenerate and eliminate the collected particulates. The concentration of NOx and hydrocarbon in the exhaust gas is detected and kept in a set range so that the filter catalyst is naturally regenerated.
