Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To keep exposure constant along a vector in a method for vector-scanning a laser beam. SOLUTION: A laser beam from a laser light source is oriented to a scanner which is provided with a first mirror 146 connected to a first rotary motive device 148 for positioning the first mirror and a second mirror 147 connected to a second rotary motive device 149 for positioning the second mirror 147. The laser beam is oriented from the first mirror to the second mirror, and then to a working face. By providing commanded-position signals to each of the first and the second rotary motive devices to rotate respective mirrors, the laser beam is scanned along the vector, each mirror undergoing acceleration at the beginning and the end of the vector, wherein the commanded-position signals are calculated based on physical mathematical modeling of the acceleration of the mirrors taking into account effects of inertia of the scanning system. Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To minimize a build-up of a chemical by-product accumulated on a laser window 32 having the surface of which is exposed to a process chamber with a circular circumstance, mounted inside of a frame, in an apparatus for forming a three-dimensional body every layer from a powder material by a laser sintering. SOLUTION: An inert gas source for supplying an inert gas in a flowing direction to an exposed face of the window and an inert gas dispenser 16 mounted to the window covering less than the a half of the circumstance are provided and the dispenser 16 provides with an exhaust opening with at least one positive flow forward to the exposed face in a flow geometry effective for distributing an inert gas as a laminar flow at a speed effective to form a curtain of the inert gas over the exposed face and at a flow rate to distribute the inert gas as a laminar flow in an effective flow geometry having a characteristic Reynolds number less than 200 which is effective to minimize accumulation of a chemical byproduct made from the powder material on a window 32 during a laser sintering. Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a easily mountable solid state laser illumination system for stereolithography with which the optimization of characteristics is easily controlled. SOLUTION: The illumination system is provided with the optical system capable of adjusting the size of a light beam and adjusting the focus of the light beam. A spot size control optical system adjusts the overall size of the light beam and separately adjusts the ellipticity of the beam, primarily in one dimension. Light from the spot size control optical system passes to a focus control optical system that controls the overall focus of the light beam and adjusts the astigmatism of the beam by altering the focal position of the light beam in one dimension. The laser system, the spot size control optical system and the focus control optical system are within an enclosure. Actuators under remote control from outside of the enclosure adjust both of the spot size control optical system and the focus control optical system in the thermal environment of the illumination system.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a vector exposure efficiency in a system by changing an amount of a predetermined curing stimulus in a beam of a selected dimension in the case of exposing a material according to a first vector set and a second vector set. SOLUTION: A controllable beam source for generating a predetermined curing stimulus beam is installed. As a preparing step for forming a next curing layer of a molding article, a new material layer brought into contact with a material layer formed immediately before is formed. Then, a curing material is exposed with the predetermined beam according to vector data representing the next curing layer of the article, and the next curing layer is formed. The operation of forming the curing layer and the exposing operation are repeated many times, and an article made of a plurality of the curing layers brought into close contact with each other is molded. Then, the predetermined curing stimulus beam source is controlled, a strength of the stimulus aimed by the beam of the selected dimension is changed between when the curing material is exposed in response to a first set of the vector set and when conducting according to a second set of the vector set.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form a three-dimensional object by exposing the object to first and second beams to form a next layer of the object according to data for altering a layer of the material, repeating forming of the layer and exposing to a stimulation, and forming the object of a plurality of layers bonded to each other. SOLUTION: Data representing a three-dimensional object is formed by a computer 67. First and second beams are output from a laser head 70 to a pair of X-Y scanning mirrors 82 through an optical path 85 via an AOM 72, k a first frequency conversion crystal 74, a second frequency conversion crystal 76, a pair of optical path turning mirror 78 and a condensing optical system 80. A next layer is formed on the layer of the object 15 of a material 15 by the pair of the mirrors 82 while altering the data by manipulating the data. Thus, forming the layer of the object 15 and exposing to the stimulation are repeated, and the object 15 is formed of a plurality of layers bonded to each other.
