Abstract:
Pressure sensitive adhesives having flame retarding properties include a (meth)acrylate-based block copolymer, and at least 10% by weight of a halogen-free flame retarding agent. The adhesives may contain additional optional additives such as tackifying resins, plasticizers, and the like. The adhesives are prepared by blending the (meth)acrylate-based block copolymer, and the halogen-free flame retarding agent either in solvent or by a solventless process.
Abstract:
Adhesive compositions are described comprising a) a non-functional isobutylene (co)polymer, b) an amine-functional poly(isobutylene) polymer, optionally an acid- functional (meth)acrylate copolymer, and optionally a tackifier.
Abstract:
A pressure sensitive adhesive composition is described comprising a polyisobutylene polymer having a first functional group and an acrylic polymer having a second functional group present in the acrylic polymer backbone. The first and second functional groups form a hydrogen bond. In some embodiments, the adhesive composition further comprises a crosslinker that covalently crosslinks the second functional group(s) present in the polymer backbone of the acrylic polymer. Also described are adhesive articles, such as a tape, methods of adhesively bonding, and methods of making a pressure sensitive adhesive.
Abstract:
A method of making erasable article comprises: providing an electret film having first and second opposed major surfaces; applying a polymerizable precursor composition to at least a portion of the first major surface; polymerizing the polymerizable precursor composition to form a non-tacky crosslinked polymeric layer; and exposing the electret film and non-tacky crosslinked polymeric layer to a direct current corona discharge, wherein the second major surface is free of adhesive material. Erasable articles and kits containing them are also disclosed. Also disclosed are dry erase articles having a first coating layer coated onto a flexible substrate. The first coating composition has a hardness upon curing of greater than about 500MPa and forms an ink receptive writing surface suitable for receiving dry erase marker ink. The first coating layer has minimal effect on the flexibility of the sheet.
Abstract:
An adhesive tape that is stretch releasable, articles that contain the adhesive tape, and uses of the adhesive tape are disclosed. The adhesive tape includes a backing layer that is adjacent to at least one pressure-sensitive adhesive layer. The backing layer includes a poly(alkylene) copolymer. Each pressure-sensitive adhesive layer includes a polyisobutylene material. The adhesive tapes can be optically clear.
Abstract:
An electroactive polymer device is described that includes at least one layer of a dielectric polymer that is a polymerized product of at least one ethylenically unsaturated nitrogen-containing monomer. Also disclosed is a transducer that includes the electroactive polymer as disclosed.
Abstract:
A filter life sensor assembly within an air handling system is disclosed. The air handling system includes an air flow intake, an air flow exit, and a filter disposed between the air flow intake and air flow exit. The filter sensor assembly comprises a bypass connecting the air flow intake to the air flow exit, a dielectric sensor adjacent the bypass, wherein the dielectric sensor generates an electrical signal in response the air flow passing through the bypass.
Abstract:
An article comprises a polymeric electret film having first and second opposed major surfaces and a perimeter defining a film area, wherein the film has a plurality of perforations extending therethrough, wherein each perforation independently has a perimeter defining a perforated area, and wherein the perforated areas, taken collectively, constitute from 10 to 50 percent of the film area. Methods of making and using such articles are also disclosed.
Abstract:
Composition blends are prepared that are hot melt processable pressure sensitive adhesives. The composition blends include at least one olefinic block copolymer, at least one elastomeric polymer, and at least one tackifying resin. The composition blends may also include additional components, such as for example, at least one plasticizer. The composition blends can be used to prepare articles, such as tapes, by disposing the hot melt processable pressure sensitive adhesive blend composition on at least a portion of a substrate
Abstract:
A composite wound dressing apparatus promotes healing of a wound via the use of a micropump system. The micropump system includes a micropump that applies a subatmospheric pressure to the wound to effectively draw wound fluid or exudate away from the wound bed, or deliver fluids to the wound bed, without the need for a cumbersome external pressure (e.g. vacuum) source. Hence, the wound dressing and micropump system is portable which allows the patient mobility that is unavailable when an external vacuum source is used.
