Abstract:
An adhesive tape with a pressure-sensitive adhesive that includes at least one natural rubber elastomer and/or synthetic rubber elastomer and a polar phenolic tackifier.
Abstract:
Some embodiments herein are related to stretch releasable pressure sensitive adhesive compositions and articles. In an embodiment, a stretch releasing adhesive article is included. The article can include a backing and a first pressure sensitive adhesive composition disposed on at least a portion of a first side of the backing. The first pressure sensitive adhesive composition can include one or more hydrocarbon block copolymers and a polar phenolic tackifier comprising a phenolic moiety and having a hydroxyl value of between 20 to 130 and an acid value of less than 0.5. In an embodiment, a stretch releasing adhesive composition is included. In an embodiment, a method of making a stretch releasing adhesive article is included. In an embodiment, a method of using a stretch releasing adhesive article is included. Other embodiments are included herein.
Abstract:
Provided is a composite film for attachment to an elastomeric substrate. The composite film comprises the following layers, in the order below: an elastomeric layer comprising a thermoplastic polyurethane; an ink layer; and a pressure sensitive adhesive layer comprising a styrenic block copolymer blended with a phenolic resin. Advantageously, the provided composite films can withstand harsh outdoor environments and stresses while providing high anchorage to elastomeric substrates, such as car tires, for a long service life.
Abstract:
An adhesive composition is described comprising a block copolymer comprising a polyvinyl aromatic block and a poly(vinyl aromatic/isoprene) copolymer block; and a tackifier. The block copolymer typically has the general structure: A-A/B or A-A/B-B; wherein A is a polyvinyl aromatic block; B is a polyisoprene block; and A/B is a poly(vinyl aromatic/isoprene) copolymer block. Also described are adhesive articles, methods of bonding, and block copolymer blends.
Abstract:
An isolator for protecting adjacently located dissimilar material substrates from galvanic corrosion. The isolator includes a backing layer having opposite major surfaces and a thickness, and an optional uncured adhesive layer having one major surface bonded to one of the major surfaces of the backing layer and another major exposed surface for being adhesively bondable to a surface of one of the dissimilar material substrates. In its cured state, the adhesive layer and the backing layer are each not permanently compressible. At least one or both of the cured adhesive layer and the backing layer is polar solvent resistant enough to prevent polar solvent transported metal ions from passing all the way through its thickness. In preferred embodiments the backing layer comprises a tetrafluoroethylene, hexafluoropropylene and vinylidene fluoride (THV) material, and the adhesive layer comprises an epoxy resin.
Abstract:
There is provided adhesive compositions comprising a styrenic block copolymer and at least one tackifier, where the at least one tackifier contains non-carbon hetero-atom functionality, and where the adhesive composition is wash durable when bonded to a substrate. There is also provided articles made using these adhesives.
Abstract:
There is provided retroreflective articles comprising a binder layer comprising an adhesive composition comprising at least one tackifier and at least one elastomer selected from at least one of natural rubbers and synthetic rubbers, and a layer of optical elements at least partially embedded in a major surface of the binder layer. There are also provided articles of clothing using the presently disclosed retroreflective articles and methods for preparing the retroreflective articles.
Abstract:
A pressure sensitive adhesive composition is described comprising a first block copolymer comprising polyvinyl aromatic end block and poly(vinyl aromatic/butadiene) copolymer block; at least 20 wt.% of a second polystyrene-polyisoprene-polystyrene block copolymer; and solid tackifying resin. The total amount of block copolymer typically ranges from 40-65 wt.% and plasticizing oil and liquid tackifying resin are present in a total amount of less than 20 wt.-% based on the total weight of organic components of the pressure sensitive adhesive composition. Also describe are adhesive articles and methods.
Abstract:
Some embodiments herein are related to pressure sensitive adhesive compositions and articles such as adhesive tapes. In some embodiments, the adhesive tape includes a backing and a first pressure sensitive adhesive composition disposed on at least a portion of a first side of the backing. The first pressure sensitive adhesive composition can include one or more hydrocarbon block copolymers and a polar phenolic tackifier comprising a phenolic moiety and having a hydroxyl value of between 20 to 130 and an acid value of less than 0.5. Some embodiments relate to adhesive compositions including one or more hydrocarbon block copolymers and a polar phenolic tackifier comprising a phenolic moiety and having a hydroxyl value of between 20 to 130 and an acid value of less than 0.5. Some embodiments relate to a method of making an adhesive article is included. In some embodiments, methods of using an adhesive article is included.
Abstract:
Core-sheath filaments are provided that comprise cores having diene-based rubbers that are crosslinked by multifunctional acrylates, resulting in superior high-temperature performance adhesives. The adhesive compositions have excellent durability against oxygen and moisture, low and stable dielectric properties, and superior high-temperature performance. Methods of making core-sheath filaments having cores including diene-based rubbers that are crosslinked by multifunctional acrylates and uses for such core-sheath filaments.
