Abstract:
An adhesive tape with a pressure-sensitive adhesive that includes at least one natural rubber elastomer and/or synthetic rubber elastomer and a polar phenolic tackifier.
Abstract:
The present application provides a primer composition, a method for treating a wet or damp surface with the primer composition, and a method to improve the adhesion of pavement markers to wet or damp surfaces. The primer composition comprises about 5 weight percent to about 90 weight percent of the reaction product of: (i) about 30 to about 70 parts by weight of an (meth)acrylate ester wherein the (meth)acrylate ester; (ii) about 70 to about 30 parts by weight of a hydrophilic acidic comonomer; and (iii) about 10 to about 100 parts based on 100 parts of the sum of the (meth)acrylate ester and the hydrophilic acid comonomer, of a plasticizer; dissolved in about 10 to about 95 weight percent of at least one organic solvent.
Abstract:
There is provided retroreflective articles comprising a binder layer comprising an adhesive composition comprising at least one tackifier and at least one elastomer selected from at least one of natural rubbers and synthetic rubbers, and a layer of optical elements at least partially embedded in a major surface of the binder layer. There are also provided articles of clothing using the presently disclosed retroreflective articles and methods for preparing the retroreflective articles.
Abstract:
Multilayer films and adhesive tapes that include such films, wherein the multilayer films include plasticized polyvinyl chloride and optionally one or more fillers.
Abstract:
The present disclosure generally relates to non-conformable thermoplastic pavement marking tapes comprising a backing and an adhesive layer adjacent to the backing. In some embodiments, the backing includes an ionic copolymer. In other embodiments, the non-conformable backing has an inelastic deformation of less than 10% at 25°C. In some embodiments, the pavement marking tape is heat-moldable.
Abstract:
There is provided adhesive compositions comprising a styrenic block copolymer and at least one tackifier, where the at least one tackifier contains non-carbon hetero-atom functionality, and where the adhesive composition is wash durable when bonded to a substrate. There is also provided articles made using these adhesives.
Abstract:
The present disclosure relates generally to cohesive compositions, articles including a cohesive composition, and methods of making such compositions and articles. In some embodiments, the cohesive compositions include rubber, thermoplastic elastomer, filler, and UV or heat stabilizers. In some embodiments, the cohesive articles include the cohesive composition described herein adjacent to a backing. In some embodiments, the cohesive articles further include at least one of a tie layer and a seal layer. Some embodiments of the present disclosure further relate to packaging materials that include the cohesive articles of the present disclosure. Such packaging materials may also include, for example, a cushioning layer and an outer layer. In other embodiments, the present disclosure relates to fastening systems comprising cohesive compositions and films described herein.
Abstract:
Ice and water barrier films are provided which comprise an adhesive layer comprising a rubber blend of polyisoprene and a styrene-isoprene-styrene (S-I-S) block copolymer rubber. In some embodiments, the adhesive layer may comprise polyisoprene and the S-I-S block copolymer in a weight ratio of between 70:30 and 88: 12 and the total combined weight of polyisoprene and the S-I-S block copolymer may be between 36 wt% and 51 wt% of the adhesive layer. In some embodiments, the adhesive layer may comprise at least 10 wt% of a plasticizer and between 20 wt% and 60 wt% of a tackifier. In some embodiments, the adhesive layer has a low Tg, typically less than -20°C, more typically less than -40°C, and more typically less than -50°C. In some embodiments, the ice and water barrier film passes the Nail Seal Ability Test performed according to ASTM D1970.
Abstract:
A pressure sensitive adhesive comprising the polymerization product of: (a) about 30 to about 70 parts by weight of one or more (meth)acrylate ester monomers wherein the (meth)acrylate ester monomers, when polymerized in the absence of other comonomers, yield a polymer or copolymer having a T g of less than about 10°C; (b) about 70 to about 30 parts by weight of one or more hydrophilic acidic comonomers wherein the hydrophilic acidic monomers, when polymerized in the absence of other comonomers, yield a polymer or copolymer having a T g of less than about 40°C; and (c) about 10 to about 70 parts based on 100 parts of the sum of components (a)+(b) of a non-reactive plasticizing agent, wherein the pressure sensitive adhesive adheres quickly to wet or dry substrate surfaces; and a method of making.
Abstract:
The present disclosure generally relates to thermoplastic pavement markings and to thermoplastic pavement marking compositions that include more than about 7 wt% EVA.
