Abstract: Curable compositions include an acrylate of Formula I: Formula I at least one multifunctional (meth)acrylate with fused aromatic groups, heteroarylene groups, heteroalkylene groups, alkylene groups, or aralkylene groups, and a photoinitiator. The compositions, when cured, have a refractive index of 1.63 or greater at 532 nanometers, are optically transparent, and have a thermal stability such that upon heating for 1 hour at 250° C. they have a weight loss of 3.5% or less.

Abstract: Layers of siloxane tackifying resins that do not contain siloxane fluids, gums or polymers act as adhesion promotion agents. Articles include a substrate layer, a non-tacky siloxane tackifying resin adhesion promotion layer disposed on the surface of the substrate layer, and a crosslinked siloxane layer in contact with the adhesion promotion layer. The crosslinked siloxane layer is not an adhesive layer. The adhesion of the crosslinked siloxane layer to the substrate is greater than the adhesion without the non-tacky siloxane tackifying adhesion promotion layer.

Abstract: A cationic copolymer comprises the divalent monomer units: wherein: each Ar1 independently represents phenylene; each L independently represents a direct bond or wherein each R1 independently represents an alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, and each R2 independently represents an alkylene group having from 1 to 6 carbon atoms, and each Z− represents a non-interfering anion; each Ar2 independently represents an optionally substituted divalent aryl ring, with the proviso that if L represents a direct bond, then Ar2 represents an optionally substituted cationic divalent aryl ring accompanied by Z; each R3 independently represents H or an alkyl group having 1 to 6 carbon atoms; and each D independently represents a direct bond or Ar2, wherein adjacent D and L are not both direct bonds, and wherein if L is a direct bond, then D is Ar2. The cationic copolymer can be free-radially cured and used in a membrane.

Abstract: Curable, coatable compositions include silane surface-treated inorganic nanoparticles with a high refractive index, and a curable reaction mixture. The curable reaction mixture includes a first (meth)acrylate monomer comprising a high refractive index (meth)acrylate monomer with a refractive index of 1.6 or higher, a second (meth)acrylate monomer comprising a lower refractive index (meth)acrylate monomer with a refractive index of less than 1.6, and at least one initiator. Cured optical coatings prepared from the compositions are optically clear, having a visible light transmission of at least 88% and a haze of 5% or less, and have a refractive index of at least 1.78, and are capable of passing a 10 millimeter mandrel flexibility test.

Abstract: Curable ink compositions include a curable aromatic monomer composition, and surface treated metal oxide nanoparticles. The surface treated metal oxide nanoparticles are surface treated with a mixture of at least two silane-functional surface treatment agents, at least one aromatic-containing silane-functional surface treatment agent and at least one silane-functional surface treatment agent comprising a co-polymerizable group. The curable ink composition is inkjet printable, having a viscosity of 30 centipoise or less at a temperature of from room temperature to 60° C., and is free from solvents. The curable ink composition, when printed and cured, has a refractive index of 1.55 or greater, and is optically clear.
