Abstract:
Blended, release materials containing crosslinked silicones, crosslinked fluorosilicones, and nonfunctional fluorosilicones are described. Articles including release liners and adhesive articles are also described, as are methods of making such blended release materials and articles incorporating them.
Abstract:
Adhesive compositions are provided that include a crosslinked silicone gel, a hydrophilic component dispersed in the silicone gel, and an antimicrobial agent dispersed in the silicone gel. The adhesive composition is readily applied to (and removed from) skin, and has desirable hydrophilic and antimicrobial properties. Advantageously, the hydrophilic component in the crosslinked silicone gel is not readily extractable (e.g., into a pH 7 buffer). Surprisingly, the combination of hydrophilic component with antimicrobial agent in the crosslinked silicone gel can provide a synergistic level of antimicrobial activity.
Abstract:
Adhesive articles that include a substrate, a silicone polyoxamide-containing primer layer, and a silicone adhesive are disclosed. Methods of making the adhesive articles and the use of a silicone polyoxamide as a primer for improving adhesion between a substrate and a silicone adhesive are also disclosed.
Abstract:
Methods of forming hybrid aerogels are described. The methods include forming a hybrid aerogel from a metal oxide precursor and a branched telechelic copolymer, e.g., co-hydrolyzing and co-condensing the metal oxide precursor and the branched telechelic copolymer. Aerogels and aerogel articles, including hydrophobic aerogels and hydrophobic aerogel articles are also described.
Abstract:
Adhesive compositions are provided that contain a crosslink product resulting from exposure of a (meth)acrylic-based composition to electron beam radiation, gamma ray radiation, or both. More particularly, the (meth)acrylic-based composition includes a (meth)acrylic-based diblock copolymer and an optional (meth)acrylic-based triblock copolymer. These adhesive compositions are particularly well suited for application to biological surface such as skin.
Abstract:
Curable compositions include at least one polydiorganosiloxane with at least two hydroxysilyl moieties, at least one hydroxyl-functional polyorganosiloxane resin, and at least one photoactivatable composition that, upon exposure to radiation, generates at least one base selected from amidines, guanidines, phosphazenes, proazaphosphatranes. The curable compositions can be coated on substrates and cured to form coatings, including pressure sensitive adhesives.
Abstract:
An adhesive tape that is stretch releasable, articles that contain the adhesive tape, and uses of the adhesive tape are disclosed. The adhesive tape includes a backing layer that is adjacent to at least one pressure-sensitive adhesive layer. The backing layer includes a poly(alkylene) copolymer. Each pressure-sensitive adhesive layer includes a polyisobutylene material. The adhesive tapes can be optically clear.
Abstract:
Adhesive compositions and articles containing the adhesive compositions are provided. In some embodiments, the adhesive compositions can be positioned adjacent to biological surfaces such as skin. For example, articles are provided that can be used in wound dressing or that can be used to stabilize and/or affix a medical device or medical instrument to a patient.
Abstract:
Low adhesion backsize (LAB) compositions including a silicone macromonomer co polymerized with a crystalline (meth)acrylate monomer to form a copolymer. The copolymer exhibits a glass transition temperature of from about -15°C to about 55°C, and a crystalline melt transition of from about 25°C to about 80°C. Articles including the LAB composition applied to a first major surface of a substrate. In some exemplary embodiments, the article is an adhesive article. In certain exemplary embodiments, the article is a pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) article. In some particular embodiments, the PSA article includes a silicone adhesive applied to a second major surface of the substrate opposite the LAB composition. Methods of making and using the LAB and the articles are also disclosed.
Abstract:
The present invention provides pressure-sensitive adhesives having a refractive index of at least 1.50. The pressure-sensitive adhesives comprise at least one monomer containing a substituted or an unsubstituted carbazole group.
