Abstract: An electronic device includes a display and a processor coupled to the display. The display includes a plurality of zones distributed over a viewable display area. The processor is configured to obtain source data for the image to be displayed in the viewable area of the display, analyze the source data in selected zones of the plurality of zones to determine at least one characteristic of the image in each selected zone, and adjust, separately in each zone of the plurality of zones, at least one type of subpixel in the subpixel matrix based on determined characteristics of the image in the selected, analyzed zones.

Abstract: Provided are abrasive articles in which the make layer, abrasive particle layer, and size layer are coated onto a backing according to a coating pattern characterized by a plurality of discrete islands. The coating pattern has features in which all three components are generally in registration with each other, while providing a pervasive uncoated area extending across the backing. Advantageously, this configuration provides a coated abrasive that displays superior curl-resistance compared with previously disclosed abrasive articles. Moreover, this configuration resists loading, resists de-lamination, has enhanced flexibility, and decreases the quantity of raw materials required to achieve the same level of performance as conventional abrasive articles.

Abstract: Provided are abrasive articles in which the make layer, abrasive particle layer, and size layer are coated onto a backing according to a coating pattern characterized by a pattern of discrete islands, or features, having an areal density ranging from about 30 features to about 300 features per square centimeter and an average feature diameter ranging from about 0.1 millimeters to about 1.5 millimeters. Optionally, the provided abrasive particles have an average abrasive particle size ranging from about 20 micrometers to about 250 micrometers and the average make layer thickness ranging from 33 percent to 100 percent of the average abrasive particle size. This coating pattern provides that all three components are generally in registration with each other, while also providing a pervasive uncoated area extending across the backing, thereby providing improved cut and finish performance while displaying a resistance to curl in wet environments.

Abstract: The disclosure relates to layers comprising a body having a thickness, T, comprising a curable composition comprising a polymerizable epoxy-acrylate resin composition and abrasive particles at least partially embedded in the polymerizable epoxy-acrylate resin composition, wherein the body includes a plurality of void spaces free of the curable composition extending into the body from the first major surface and the depth of the plurality of void spaces is at least 10 percent of thickness T. The disclosure also relates to cured compositions formed from such curable compositions and, in turn, abrasive articles made from such cured compositions as well as methods for making abrasive articles.

Abstract: An abrasive article comprising an attachment layer and an abrasive layer. The attachment layer comprises a porous backing having a first major surface, an opposed second major surface, and a first plurality of voids extending from the first major surface to the second major surface. The abrasive layer has a third major surface and an opposed fourth major surface and comprises a cured composition, abrasive particles at least partially embedded in the cured composition, and a second plurality of voids extending from the third major surface to the fourth major surface. The first major surface of the attachment layer is adjacent the third major surface of the abrasive layer, and the pattern of the second plurality of voids is independent of the pattern of the first plurality of voids.
