Abstract:
Various embodiments of a reclosable package (100) are disclosed. The package (100) includes a pouch (120) that defines an interior volume (122) and an opening (124) providing access to the interior volume, and a self-mating fastener (150) connected to the pouch. The pouch (120) includes a flexible material and a seal region (140) disposed adjacent the opening that is adapted to be broken to allow a first opening of the pouch. Further, the self-mating fastener (150) includes an open configuration and a closed configuration. When in the open configuration the self-mating fastener is adapted to allow access to the interior volume of the pouch through the opening after the seal region has been broken. When in the closed configuration the self-mating fastener is adapted to prevent access to the interior volume of the pouch through the opening.
Abstract:
Various apparatuses are disclosed including those that have curvature arresting properties. According to one example, the apparatus can optionally include a flexible first film, a second film and a first plurality of features. The first plurality of features can be disposed between the first film and the second film At least some of the first plurality of features are spaced apart from one another by a gap when the first film is not subject to an applied bending force or is subject to the applied bending force below a predetermined magnitude in one or both of the transverse direction and the longitudinal direction, and at least some of the first plurality of features contact one another to arrest a curvature of the first film when the applied bending force is at or above the predetermined magnitude.
Abstract:
A fastener (1) includes a backing having and rails (4) and ribs (6) protruding perpendicularly from the first major surface of the backing. The rails and ribs alternate. Each of the rails has a continuous base portion (10) attached to the backing and a continuous cap portion (8) distal from the backing. The continuous cap portion has a cap width (X4) that is greater than a width of the continuous base portion, and the cap portion overhangs the base portion on opposing sides. Each of the ribs has a continuous proximal portion attached to the backing, a height (Z3) that is no greater than a height of rails, and a continuous distal portion distal from the backing. The distal portion has a width that is no greater than the width of the proximal portion. A fastening system that includes the fastener, a package that includes the fastener, and a method of making the package are also described.
Abstract:
An improved method and tooling for a pouch forming machine to attach a fastener to the bag film layers. The method and fixture in one embodiment can unwind a double wide touch and close fastening material and then split the fastener into two strips using two turning bars, invert one of the strips, bring the strips together to interlock them with a nip roller, and then insert the interlocked strip between the bag film layers.
Abstract:
The fastener includes a backing and rows of rail segments and rows of posts protruding perpendicularly from the backing. The rows of rail segments and rows of posts alternate. Each of the rail segments has a base portion attached to the backing and a cap portion distal from the backing. The cap portion has a cap width that is greater than a width of the base portion, and the cap portion overhangs the base portion on opposing sides. A number of posts in one of the rows of posts is more than a number of rail segments in one of the rows of rail segments. Each of the posts has a height that is no greater than a height of the rail segments and a length that is different from the length of the rail segments. A fastening system that includes the fastener and a package that includes the fastener are also described.
Abstract:
Herein are disclosed apparatus and methods for impinging fluids, e.g. heated fluids, onto the surface of substrates and then locally removing the impinged fluid. The apparatus may comprise at least first and second fluid delivery outlets that are in diverging relation to each other. The apparatus may comprise at least first and second fluid capture inlets that are locally positioned relative to the first and second fluid delivery outlets, respectively. The apparatus and method may be used e.g. to impinge fluids onto two converging substrates and may be used to heat the surfaces of the substrates so as to facilitate melt-bonding the substrates to each other.
Abstract:
A reclosable package and processes for making it are disclosed. The reclosable package includes a front panel, a back panel, an upper seal region adapted to be broken to allow a first opening of the reclosable package, a lower seal opposite the upper seal region, a vertical seal extending between the upper seal region and the lower seal on the back panel between the first side edge and the opposing second side edge; and a self-mating fastener disposed adjacent the upper seal region in an interior of the reclosable package. The self-mating fastener includes first and second fastener members each having fastener elements, an open configuration to allow access to the interior volume of the reclosable package, and a closed configuration in which the fastener elements of the first and second fastener members are engaged. In the closed configuration, the self-mating fastener is up to 800 micrometers thick.
Abstract:
An absorbent article includes an absorbent chassis and a fastening system that together define a refastenable pant. The refastenable pant includes a pair side panels comprising a front side panel and a back side panel. The front side panel and back side panel forming a leg opening when fastened together. The refastenable pant comprising a fastening system that includes bridging components that refastenably connect the front side and back side panels in the manner of a butt-joint thus producing a side panel with a low profile seam appearance.
Abstract:
A sheet of loop material having utility as the landing zone in the manufacture of, e.g. disposable diapers and having excellent properties and an exceptionally low basis weight. Methods and apparatus for forming the sheet of loop material are also disclosed.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to printed hook components for hook and loop mechanical fasteners, and other components such as on diaper chassis and other personal hygiene articles, and methods for making the same. The hook component comprises an organic polymer, a laser-sensitive agent, and a laser-induced print on the hook component created by the interaction of electromagnetic radiation with the laser-sensitive agent. The hook component can be used in a variety of applications, including mechanical fastening devices for personal hygiene articles such as diapers, adult incontinence pads, and medical gowns.
