Abstract:
An adhesive article including: a coextruded polymeric backing that includes: a first layer including an amorphous polyamide, the first layer having first and second opposing major surfaces; and a second layer including a polar-modified polyolefin, the second layer having first and second opposing major surfaces; wherein the first major surface of the second layer is in contact with the second major surface of the first layer; and an acrylic pressure sensitive adhesive layer in contact with the first major surface of the first layer of the backing.
Abstract:
The present disclosure relates generally to cohesive compositions, articles including a cohesive composition, and methods of making such compositions and articles. In some embodiments, the cohesive compositions include rubber, thermoplastic elastomer, filler, and UV or heat stabilizers. In some embodiments, the cohesive articles include the cohesive composition described herein adjacent to a backing. In some embodiments, the cohesive articles further include at least one of a tie layer and a seal layer. Some embodiments of the present disclosure further relate to packaging materials that include the cohesive articles of the present disclosure. Such packaging materials may also include, for example, a cushioning layer and an outer layer. In other embodiments, the present disclosure relates to fastening systems comprising cohesive compositions and films described herein.
Abstract:
The present application generally relates to support articles and methods of making and using them. The support articles of the present disclosure provide compression and/or stabilization of sore joints, tendons, or muscles. In some embodiments, the support articles include a bump protruding from at least a portion of the backing of the article that can be placed directly adjacent to a sore or affected area to provide enhanced compression or relief.
Abstract:
Presently described are components of a spray application system. At least one component comprises a liquid repellent surface layer. The liquid repellent surface (e.g. layer) comprises a siloxane material. The component is typically a liquid reservoir, a liquid reservoir liner, a lid for a liquid reservoir or liner, or a combination thereof. In some embodiments, the component comprises a thermoplastic polymeric material. In some favored embodiments, the component is a removable liquid reservoir or liner. In some favored embodiments, the component is a collapsible liquid reservoir or liner. The spray application system typically further comprises a gravity-fed spray gun. Also described are spray application systems, methods of using a spray application system, as well as methods of making a component of a spray application system wherein the component has a liquid repellent surface.
Abstract:
A multilayer film having a backing with an integrally formed polymeric liner, made in a common coextrusion process. The polymeric liner has material properties deemed to make it incompatible with the backing material, resulting in two layers that resist separation during manufacture and transportation but are hand separable in field applications and installation.
Abstract:
Polymeric multilayer film comprising a layer comprising a first pressure sensitive adhesive and exhibiting a random network of strands and connective regions. The polymeric multilayer films are useful, for example, for tape and graphic articles.
Abstract:
Multilayer films and adhesive tapes that include such films, wherein the multilayer films include plasticized polyvinyl chloride and optionally one or more fillers.
Abstract:
Provided are adhesive-backed films and related methods useful in laser cutting a substrate protected by an adhesive-backed film. The adhesive-backed film includes a base layer comprised of a polymer and having opposing first and second major surfaces and an adhesive layer comprising a pressure-sensitive adhesive directly or indirectly coupled to the second major surface. An infrared absorber is present in one or both of the polymer and the pressure-sensitive adhesive, and the adhesive-backed film is sufficiently transparent to enable visual inspection of a surface having the adhesive-backed film disposed thereon.
Abstract:
An extrusion die (20) and method for co-extruding a first molten polymeric material and a second molten polymeric material. The die includes a first die portion (20), a second die portion and a shim separating the first die portion and the second die portion. The shim has a first side and a second side, the first side of the shim forming a boundary of the first die portion and defining a first die cavity (38), the second side of the shim forming a boundary of the second die portion and defining a second die cavity (40). A dispensing edge (36) is provided having a plurality of first and second extrusion openings, a plurality of first feed channels connecting the first die cavity to the first extrusion openings along the dispensing edge, and a plurality of second feed channels connecting the second die cavity to the second extrusion openings along the dispensing edge. The first and second extrusion openings arranged along the dispensing edge to provide an interfacial zone having portions of the first extrusion openings disposed between portions of the second extrusion openings. The die is used in an extrusion system and a method for making a multilayered article.
Abstract:
Methods for preparing silicone-containing polymers by essentially adiabatic polymerization methods are disclosed. The polymerization system includes free radically polymerizable monomers. The monomers include ethylenically unsaturated silicone-containing monomers and/or mercapto-functional silicones as well as additional free radically polymerizable monomers. The silicone-containing polymers are useful as adhesives or release materials.
