Abstract: Embodiments can include aqueous coating compositions, modified particles and methods. In an embodiment, an aqueous coating composition is included with particles having an inorganic core, a surface on the outside of the core, an agent including a hydrophobic moiety adhering to the surface, and an agent including a hydrophilic moiety adhering to the surface. The aqueous coating composition can further include a film forming polymer composition including a polymer and water. The particles can be mixed with the polymer composition. In an embodiment, a method of coating a flooring surface is included, the method including applying an aqueous coating composition to a flooring surface and drying the aqueous coating composition. In an embodiment, a particle is included. The particle can include agents including a hydrophobic moiety adhering to the surface of the particle and agents including a hydrophilic moiety adhering to the surface. Other embodiments are also included herein.

Abstract: The present disclosure describes compositions and a method for forming such compositions. More specifically, inorganic microparticles and surface modified silica nanoparticles are mixed to form a composition. The surface modified silica nanoparticles are present in the composition in an amount sufficient to decrease the coefficient of friction relative to a comparable composition that is free of surface modified silica nanoparticles.

Abstract: Crosslinkable polymeric materials, crosslinked polymeric materials, articles containing the crosslinkable polymeric materials or crosslinked polymeric materials, and methods of making the articles and various compositions are provided. More particularly, the crosslinkable composition contains a) a first polymeric material, which has terminal dithiocarbamate or dithiocarbonate groups, b) a crosslinking composition containing a chlorinated triazine crosslinking agent and/or a crosslinking monomer having two or more ethylenically unsaturated groups, and c) a thixotropic agent containing metal oxide particles. The crosslinkable composition may be printable or dispensed. In some embodiments, the crosslinked composition is a pressure-sensitive adhesive.

Abstract: A nanostructured article having a first layer with a nanostructured surface is described. The nanostructured surface includes a plurality of pillars extending from a base surface of the first layer. The pillars have an average height greater than an average lateral dimension of the pillars. An average center-to-center spacing between pillars is no more than 2000 nm. The average lateral dimension is no less than 50 nm. Each pillar in the plurality of pillars has at least a lower portion and an upper portion where the lower portion is between the upper portion and the base surface, and the upper and lower portions have differing compositions. The nanostructured article includes a second layer disposed over the plurality of pillars and extending continuously to the base surface.

Abstract: Waterborne suspensions include surface treated silica particles, a water dispersable binder resin, at least one surfactant, and an aqueous solvent. The surface treated silica particles have a mixture of hydrophobic and hydrophilic silane surface treatment agents, where the ratio of hydrophilic silane surface treatment agent to hydrophobic silane surface treatment agent is greater than 1. The waterborne suspensions can be coated and dried to form nanostructured tie layers, especially tie layers to silicone or (meth)acrylate layers.
