Abstract: Embodiments can include aqueous coating compositions, modified particles and methods. In an embodiment, an aqueous coating composition is included with particles having an inorganic core, a surface on the outside of the core, an agent including a hydrophobic moiety adhering to the surface, and an agent including a hydrophilic moiety adhering to the surface. The aqueous coating composition can further include a film forming polymer composition including a polymer and water. The particles can be mixed with the polymer composition. In an embodiment, a method of coating a flooring surface is included, the method including applying an aqueous coating composition to a flooring surface and drying the aqueous coating composition. In an embodiment, a particle is included. The particle can include agents including a hydrophobic moiety adhering to the surface of the particle and agents including a hydrophilic moiety adhering to the surface. Other embodiments are also included herein.

Abstract: A film is described comprising a (meth)acrylic polymer and a polyvinyl acetal (e.g. butyral) resin. In some embodiments, the film has a glass transition temperature (i.e. Tg) ranging from 30° C. to 60° C. In some embodiments, the film has a gel content of at least 20% or greater. In some embodiments, the film has an elongation at break of at least 175%. The film typically comprises photoinitiator as a result of the method by which the film was made. The film may be a monolithic film or a layer of a multilayer film.

Abstract: An adhesion promoter coating composition includes an oligomeric alkylalkoxysiloxane and a compound comprising an electrophile moiety and an alkoxysilyl moiety. The electrophile moiety may contain a sulfide functional group, for example. A dust suppression coating composition includes an acrylic polymer comprising a quaternary ammonium moiety; and an oligomeric alkylalkoxysiloxane. The coating composition may further include a zirconium salt. The coating composition may be applied to roofing granules, and/or asphaltic compositions, among other things.

Abstract: Antimicrobial compositions are provided that include a hydroalcoholic solvent system comprising a lower C2-C5 alcohol and water; a cationic antimicrobial agent such as chlorhexidine gluconate; a fatty component containing at least one free hydroxyl group, such as a C12-C21 fatty alcohol, a C12-C21 fatty ester, a C12-C21 fatty ether, a C12-C21 fatty amide, and combinations thereof; and optionally an emollient ester such as diesters of bibasic acids and trimesters of citric acid. The compositions described herein display improved antimicrobial efficacy and improved cosmetic elegance. Methods of using the antimicrobial compositions are provided.
