Abstract: Method of making a polymer matrix composite comprising a porous polymeric network structure; and a plurality of particles distributed within the polymeric network structure, the method comprising: combining a thermoplastic polymer, a solvent that the thermoplastic polymer is soluble in, and a plurality of particles to provide a slurry; forming the slurry in to an article; heating the article in an environment to retain at least 90 percent by weight of the solvent, based on the weight of the solvent in the slurry, and inducing phase separation of the thermoplastic polymer from the solvent to provide the polymer matrix composite.

Abstract: A transfer article with a thickness of less than 3 micrometers includes a first acrylate layer that is releasable from a metal or doped semiconductor release layer at a release value of from 2 to 50 grams/inch. The article includes a functional layer overlaying the first acrylate layer. The functional layer includes at least one microfractured inorganic layer about 3 nanometers to about 200 nanometers thick, which has a plurality of toolmarks interspersed with cracks.

Abstract: Flexible films including an electrically conductive layer being sandwiched by two electrically insulating layers in a layered structure are provided. The layered structure extends continuously from at least one first zone to at least one second zone along a lateral direction of the flexible film, and the at least one first zone is positioned around a periphery of the respective at least one second zone. In the at least one first zone the three layers are at least partially intermixed with each other to provide an electrically conductive surface in the at least one first zone on the side of the first major surface of the layered structure, and in the at least one second zone the first major surface remains electrically non-conductive.
