Abstract: A battery assembly comprises an assembly housing, a plurality of battery modules disposed within the assembly housing and electrically coupled to a busbar, and at least one ceramifiable pad disposed within the assembly housing. Each battery module comprises a plurality of individual cells disposed within a module housing. The at least one ceramifiable pad is disposed between at least one of: at least two of the individual cells, at least two of the battery modules, the busbar and the assembly housing, or at least one of the battery modules and the assembly housing. The ceramifiable pad comprises a ceramifiable composition. Heating the ceramifiable composition to a temperature between 600 and 1600° C., inclusive, results in a ceramified composition. Ceramifiable compositions and methods of making them are also disclosed.

Abstract: A ceramifiable composition comprises a crosslinked silicone matrix retaining stabilizing components. The stabilizing components comprise subcomponents: a) at least one of an aluminosilicate clay, aluminum oxide, or a hydrate thereof; b) at least one of phosphorus pentoxide, a polyphosphate, an inorganic phosphate salt, boron oxide, boric acid or a salt thereof; and c) at least one of an alkaline earth oxide, alkaline earth carbonate, or a hydrate thereof, and wherein heating the ceramifiable composition to a temperature between 600 and 1600 degrees Celsius, inclusive, results in a ceramified composition. An article including a layer of the ceramifiable composition and a method of making the same are also disclosed.

Abstract: Provided is a battery assembly that includes a housing, one or more battery cells electrically coupled to a busbar, the one or more battery cells and busbar being received in the housing. A non-woven core layer is disposed between the busbar and housing, the non-woven core layer comprising a plurality of fibers, the plurality of fibers includes a plurality of oxidized polyacrylonitrile fibers and a coating disposed thereon that binds the plurality of oxidized polyacrylonitrile fibers to each other. Advantageously, the provided assemblies can exhibit extremely high electrical resistance, thermal resistance, and very high dielectric breakdown voltage.

Abstract: Compositions are provided including a chemical blowing agent, a silicone component including an average of more than one free-radically reactive group, and a free-radical initiator. Foam compositions are also provided including a foamed silicone thermoset polymer matrix, fragments of a free-radical initiator, and fragments of a chemical blowing agent. The present disclosure further provides a method of making a foam gasket including dispensing a flowable composition onto a surface of an article and solidifying the flowable composition to form the foam gasket on the surface of the article. The composition includes a chemical blowing agent and a crosslinkable silicone component, and is dispensed at a temperature sufficient to activate the chemical blowing agent. Also, a foam gasket is provided including a foamed silicone thermoplastic polymer matrix and fragments of a chemical blowing agent. An article is additionally provided, including first and second surfaces configured to mate with each other such that when they are mated, the article has a closed clamshell structure. The article further includes a foam gasket disposed on the first surface including a foamed silicone thermoplastic polymer matrix.

Abstract: A method of making a release coated article is described comprising: providing a release coating comprising at least 50 wt. % of monomer(s) comprising an ethylenically unsaturated group and a terminal alkyl group with at least 18 (e.g. contiguous) carbon atoms based on the total amount of ethylenically unsaturated components; crosslinking components(s) comprising at least two ethylenically unsaturated groups; and at least one polymerization initiator. The release coating is substantially solventless, comprising no greater than 1 wt. % of non-polymerizable organic solvent. The method further comprises applying the release coating to a major surface of a substrate; and polymerizing the monomer(s) and crosslinking component(s) of the release coating after applying the release coating to the substrate. Also described are release coating compositions.
