Abstract: The present disclosure relates generally to tension-activated, expanding articles that include a plurality of patterned slits. At least some of the plurality of slits are multibeam slits that, when the material into which the slits are formed is tension-activated form one or more multibeams. In some embodiments, these articles are used as cushioning films and/or packaging materials. The present disclosure also relates to methods of making and using these tension-activated, expanding articles.

Abstract: Provided are face coverings that include a cover panel made from a cover panel material, a filter made from a filtration media adjacent the cover panel, and a retaining system for securing the face covering to a wearer's face. The face coverings can further include a gasket comprising gasket material connected to a perimeter of the cover panel and configured to contact to a wearer's face. The pressure drop across a combination of the cover panel material and the filtration media is from 45% to 75% of the pressure drop across the gasket material, enabling filtration of airborne contaminants allowing for reduced retaining tension and improved comfort to the wearer.

Abstract: Cushioning articles include a layer with a plurality of cuts arrayed in a pattern. The cuts are gaps and the gaps do not form apertures allowing one to see through the layer when the layer is in an unstressed state, but in a stressed state, at least some of the cuts become gaps that are perforations through the layer. In the stressed state the layer expands to form the cushioning article. The cushioning article may be a multi-layer article with another layer that is contacted to the stressed layer in the stressed state to hold the layer in a stressed state.

Abstract: Compositions are provided including an uncrosslinked thermoplastic nitrogen-containing matrix material and composite particles distributed in the matrix material. Methods of making the foam compositions are additionally described herein. Also, polishing pads, polishing systems, and methods of polishing a substrate are provided.
