Abstract:
A method for determining end of service life for cushions of earmuff style auditory protection devices is described. The exemplary method comprises the steps of determining a wear parameter related to a degradation in a physical characteristic of the cushion of the auditory protection device; comparing the wear parameter to a threshold value; and making a determination based on the threshold value if the cushion has reached an end of its service life.
Abstract:
A process for preparing photoresponsive hybrid organic-inorganic particles comprises (a) combining (1) at least one organosilane compound comprising at least two silicon-bonded groups selected from hydroxyl groups, hydrolyzable groups, and combinations thereof and (2) at least one neat photoactive material, to form a ceramic precursor composition; and (b) allowing or inducing hydrolysis of the hydrolyzable groups and condensation of the organosilane compound to form hybrid organic-inorganic particles comprising the photoactive material.
Abstract:
A transparent conductor is provided, including a visible light transparent substrate and metal traces disposed on the substrate, and a layer of a second metal deposited on at least a portion of the metal traces. The transparent conductor further includes a layer of a second metal, which conforms to the surface structure of the metal traces on which it is deposited. Optionally, the transparent conductor also includes a coating layer disposed on a portion of the metal traces and the substrate surface. The coating layer includes a polymer prepared from a polymerizable composition containing at least one ionic liquid monomer. A method of forming a transparent conductor is also provided, including obtaining a visible light transparent substrate having metal traces disposed on the substrate and applying a coating composition on a portion of the metal traces and substrate. The coating composition contains at least one noble metal salt and at least one polymerizable ionic liquid monomer.
