Abstract: An electrochemical cell pack includes a housing having an interior volume; a plurality of electrochemical cells disposed within the interior volume; a thermal management fluid disposed within the interior volume such that the plurality of electrochemical cells is in thermal communication with the thermal management fluid; one or more space fillers disposed with the interior volume and in direct contact with the thermal management fluid; and one or more fluid egress ports configured and arranged in the electrochemical cell pack such that at least 90 wt. % of any vapors or gases present in the electrochemical cell packs may be discharged from the electrochemical cell pack via the fluid egress ports within 10 seconds of a thermal runaway event within the electrochemical cell pack.
