Abstract: PURPOSE: To enhance combustion efficiency while reducing emission of harmful components by providing an appropriate nozzle and a cooling air supply unit surrounding a lance like an outer shell and cooling the lance and fuel with cooling air thereby preventing early firing. CONSTITUTION: A fuel lance for use in a combustion chamber defined by the casing of a gas turbine includes a liquid fuel pipe 7 surrounded by an elongated lance outer shell 11 and secured to the easing by a holding arm projecting sideways, a gas pipe 9 forming a gas passage around the liquid fuel pipe 7, and the lance outer shell 11 forming an air passage 10 around the gas pipe 9. An air/fuel nozzle 12 is provided on the side at the downstream end part of the fuel lance, a gas pipe 9 is provided with a gas nozzle 15 for ejecting gas from a gas passage 8 together with air, and the liquid fuel pipe 7 is provided with a liquid fuel nozzle 18 for ejecting liquid fuel through the air passage 10 and the air/fuel nozzle 12.

CONSTITUTION: A mixing chamber for jetting a gaseous secondary flow into a regulated gaseous main flow, wherein, in the type where the secondary main flow has a substantially smaller mass flow than the main flow, the main flow is guided via the plurality of vortex generators 9 which are arranged adjacent to one another over the width or the periphery of the duct 20 through which flow takes place, the height (h) of the vortex generators 9 is at least 50% of the height H of the duct 20 through which flow takes place, and the secondary flow is fed into the duct 20 in the immediate region of the vortex generators 9.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To generate a vortex in the longitudinal direction without requiring any recycle region in a passing inlet gap by introducing air into tangential gaps through a vortex generator. CONSTITUTION: The air is guided into tangential gaps 20 via vortex generators 9, a plurality of which are arranged across the width or the circumference of the gap 20 preferably with no intermediate space. The vortex generator 9 has height at least equal to 50% of that of the passing gap and fuel is introduced into the gap in a range immediately close to the vortex generator 9. It is therefore possible, in a new static mixer formed by a three-dimensional vortex generator, to achieve extraordinary short mixing distance at the burner inlet with a small pressure loss at the same time. It is especially suitable for mixing fuel having a relatively low front pressure with significantly lean combustion air.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To obtain a method for achieving thorough mixing of combustion gas and fuel within a shortest distance while keeping a uniform velocity distribution in the mixing region. CONSTITUTION: In a fuel supply system with premixing combustion, a gaseous and/or liquid fuel is introduced as a secondary flow into a gaseous ducted main flow wherein the secondary flow has a substantially smaller mass flow than the main flow. The main flow is guided via vortex generators 9 of which a plurality are arranged adjacent to one another over the periphery of a through duct 20. The secondary flow is fed into the duct 20 in the immediate region of the vortex generators 9. A vortex generator 9 has three surfaces around which flow takes place freely, which surfaces extend in the flow direction, one of them forming the top surface and the two others forming the side faces. The fuel is fed into the duct from nozzles which are located before, behind or in the vortex generator.

These surfaces extend in the flow direction and two side surfaces has an angle a varying in the flow direction. The top surface extends at an incident angle to the duct wall 21 (21a, 21b) which varies in the flow direction.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To form a large scale longitudinal vortex and to perform rapid mixing in a short distance by arranging a three-dimensional vortex generator within the width of a separating plate or around the same in the transverse direction to the stream direction and controlling the stream. CONSTITUTION: A material to be mixed is made to flow along the separating plate 22 disposed on the upstream side of a mixing region (d) of a streaming passage. Plural vortex generators 9 are arranged within the width of the separating plate or around the same in the transverse direction to the stream direction. The vortex generators 9 have respectively three faces of a roof face 10 and two side faces 11, 13, the side faces 11, 13 are in contact with the streaming passage wall 21 to form a wedge angle α each other. The roof face 10 comes into contact with the passage wall 21 with an edge part 15 which extends in the transverse direction to the stream direction. Further, edge parts 12, 14 in the longitudinal direction of the roof face 10 which coincides to the edge part in the longitudinal direction protruding into the streaming passage of the side faces 11, 13 form an angle of elevation θ to the passage wall 21. In such a manner, the vortex is formed by a simple structure without pressure loss and dead water region.
