    Abstract: The assembly removes dust particles from esp. coal-fired incinerator plant. The assembly incorporates a surface area filter (2) contained within a housing (1). Dust particles first arrive at a particle electrical charge-loader (4) before the gas and residual dust load pass to the surface area filter (2). The charge-loader (4) incorporates both active (9) and passive (8) electrodes connected to a high-voltage supply (12). The front-loader (4) is constructed as a discrete assembly which is incorporated in the passage (3) to the filter housing (1) at the point at which the effluent gas flow speed is very fast in comparison with the gas speed through the surface area filter. The active (9) and passive electrodes (8) are arranged transversely to the direction of gas flow. The active electrodes in the front charge-loader are either spray electrodes with well-defined sharp points, or wires with a small radius of bend in comparison with the passive electrodes. The active (9) and passive (8) electrodes alternate with each other in the direction of flow, and the last electrode in the direction of flow is an active electrode, and the passive electrodes (8) supply the high voltage of pref. positive potential, while the active electrodes (9) are earthed.

    Abstract: A gas filter (1) bag has a covering filter layer (9) removes particles from a flow of gas. The first filter bag (1) and flexible layer (9) are immediately followed by a second detachable filter bag bearing a rigid catalytic layer (10) parallel to the first (9). The first filter (1) is a bag, pocket, hose, cassette, cartridge. The rigid catalytic layer (10) is at least 100 mu thick and porous. The gas filter (9) has a back-flow cleaning jet (8) admitting compressed air to the gap between the first (9) and second (10) bags. The filter is suited to treat esp. nitric oxides, dioxins, furans, and volatile hydrocarbons.

    Abstract: Flue gases produced in the combustion of coal are passed through a cross-flow filter element of gas-permeable material having channels open at both ends and a second group of channels at 90 deg to the first. At least the channel walls contain or are of catalyst material. Preferably, the channels of the first group open into a gas chamber which is sealed from the environment and an inflow chamber which can be subjected to a pressure pulse is located at the other end. In a particularly preferable arrangement, plates are distanced from each other by spacers, the distances between adjacent first spacer and between adjacent second spacers forming the channels.

    Abstract: Gas flow in the filter is radially outwards so that dirt accumulates on the inside of the bag from where it is removed as the top is closed and the bottom is opened to vacuum. The filter comprises rows of vertical tubular bags that receive raw gas into their upper openings. The bottom of each bag is open and projects into a chamber (8) which is isolated from the outside by a valve (12). Where all bags are to be cleaned simultaneously, in a batch-wise operation, the tops of the bags are closed, the valve is opened so that the chamber (8) is connected via a pipe (9) to a vacuum chamber (10) which is evacuated by a pump (11). The higher pressure of the clean gas in compartment (4) then causes a reverse flow and therefore cleaning. In a continuous operation each row of bags has its own pipe (9), and associated valve.

    Abstract: Following release from the incinerator, the gases (7) are surrendered first to a boiler (2) and then to a low-temperature separator (7). Before the ash is surrendered to the boiler, the greater part pref. 95 per cent of the ash (8) is separated at high temperature from the gas in a molten state and is discharged as an inert glasslike product (16). The salt-based ash residues are further transported with the gas (7', 7) phase and are separated at low temperatures by a ceramic filter. The ash (8) transported with the effluent gases (7) from a municipal incinerator (1) consist of a combination of glass-forming ashes, and salt-based ashes containing alkaline and heavy metals.
