Abstract: The resistance element has a positive temperature coefficient body (1), provided with electrodes (2a,2b) at its opposite ends. the section of the body between the end electrodes has a cross-section which tapers inwards from each end towards a minimum cross-section at the centre. The tapered parts (7a,7b) of the body on either side of the centre line (6) have a concave cross-sectional profile in the longitudinal direction.
