Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To significantly absorb vibration of low frequency in a combustion chamber. SOLUTION: Preparation of heat gas in a combustion chamber is performed continuously in two combustriuon steps (20, 40). A cross section narrowed part when viewed in a flow direction is disposed at a final end of the first combustion stage (20). Heat gas (21) prepared in the first combustion stage (20) through the cross section narrowed part is transferred to the second combustion stage (40). A mach number in an outlet (31) of the cross section narrowed part (30) corresponds to an area ratio of an outlet surface (A2) to an inlet surface (A1).

Abstract: The chamber comprises a cross-sectional narrowing (30) in the flow direction which enables the transition of the hot gases (21) between the first stage (20) and the succeeding stage (40). The cross-sectional narrowing has a structure with the Mach number at the outlet (31) being equal to the surface ratio of the narrowing. The surface ratio is a quotient of the outlet surface (A2) over the inlet surface (A1). The axial length (L) of the cross-sectional narrowing is 5% greater than the diameter at the inlet surface. The combustion chamber is of the ring type and is operable with at least one pre-mix burner (10).

Abstract: Sub-stoichiometric initial combustion with prim. air (14) takes place in the first stage, the gases from which are cooled so as to give an exhaust temp. from the second stage at which virtually no nitrous oxide is generated. Sec. air (13) gives complete combustion of the cooled gases in the latter stage.The cooling of the gases is passive, typically by radiation via a cooling jacket. In the first stage preliminary mixing can take place, pref. using a double-cone burner (2). The initial combustion chamber (6) can protrude into the main one (7), which is enclosed by a wall (3). A cylindrical wall (4) encloses the initial chamber, and is connected to a burner (1) at the inlet end, while at its mouth is a mixing system for the sec. air, which is supplied via a separate conduit (11) passing through the chamber wall.

Abstract: The appts. has a cooling surface (5) and a cover surface (6) parallel to each other. Between them and at a constant distance from the cooling surface is a matrix of pipes (7) with rectangular cross-section. The pipe walls facing the cooling surface have series of holes (8) and the gap between these walls and the surface is smaller than that between the upper walls and the cover surface. The cooling flow of air from the pipes is downwards through the holes, up around the sides and in between the pipes, and then along the upper gap. Double-walled pipes may be used.

Abstract: The burner has a body (26) of two hollow, conical bodies (1,2) which are disposed offset to one another, so that their centre axes (4,5) is in the flow direction. A tapered cavity is formed, expanding towards the flow direction, having tangential air-intake grooves (7) between the conical bodies. A number of fuel supply openings, for gaseous fuel, are evenly distributed in the overall area of the grooves. At the upstream end of the cone burner, a central liquid fuel nozzle (15) is arranged, leading into the burner cavity; whereas at the downstream end, the conical bodies posses a common outlet diffusor (27). Towards the discharge diffusor the two conical bodies have a transient area (28), which continuously takes the weight of the air-intake grooves in the flow direction. The diffusor is circular and is formed without any grooves.

Abstract: The muffler for the exhaust of a gas turbine is stationary with a horizontal (7) and a vertical (8) section. In the vertical section are several vertical sliding baffle plates, and there is an equal number of bent guide elements (5) arranged across the diagonal between the two sections, the gas flow being between them. The guides and sliding baffle plates touch so that continuous flow channels are formed. Alternatively, the baffle plates may all end in a horizontal plane, leaving a diverging flow space between the exit of the guide elements and the baffle plates. The vertical section has a greater cross-sectional area than the horizontal section. ADVANTAGE- Compact inexpensive design with low losses.

Abstract: The combustion air (7) flows through tangential air inlet ducts (5,6) into a pre-mixing section formed by the burner. A critical spin-flow formed at the burner's outlet and induces a backflow zone to stabilise the flame-front. The burner along the flow direction has at least one zone(27) in which extra air is injected into the spin flow. The burner consists of at least two hollow, conical, interfitting part bodies (1,2) with staggered centre axes (3,4). The adjacent walls of the part-bodies for tangential air inlet ducts for the combustion air. At least one fuel nozzle (15) is contained in the conical hollow space formed by the part bodies.
