    Abstract: An original unit mixes fluids having identical or differing mass flow rates. Flowing along a partition wall (22), they pass freely around surfaces of several, adjacent, downstream, turbulent eddy generators (9). Sides (11, 13) of these bodies (9) are flush with one side of the partition (22). Between them, and angle ( alpha ) is included. The long edges of the body (12, 14) include an angle (&thetas; ) with the wall (22). The sides (11, 13) share a connecting edge (16) which is perpendicular to the wall (22), forming the leading edge. The body has a roof in two sections (1, 2), terminating at the sides (11, 13), and connecting at a edge (10). The trailing edges (5, 6) of the roof sections subtend an angle ( gamma ) with the wall (22), and lie on the opposite side of it. A base has two sections (3, 4) joining at an edge (30), and connected by the rear edges (5, 6) to the roof sections.

    Abstract: A combustion chamber designed for self-ignition essentially comprises an inlet zone (1) and a combustion zone (2). The two zones are arranged in succession in terms of flow. At the transition between the inlet zone (1) and the combustion zone (2) there is a jump (8) in cross section. A fuel (5) is injected into the inlet zone (1) and, upon mixing with working gases (7), there initiates self-ignition. At the transition between the inlet zone (1) and the combustion zone (2) there forms a flame front (9), the stabilization of which depends on the jump (8) in cross section. Vortex-generating elements (3) which are positioned in the inlet zone (1) upstream of fuel nozzles (6) ensure that a backflow zone is formed in the region of the flame front (9). Downstream of the combustion zone (2) there follows a turbine acted upon by the hot gases (10). The change in cross-section may be symmetrical (Figs. 2 and 3).

    Abstract: The fuel is introduced as a secondary current into a gaseous main current enclosed by an annular premixing duct (20) defined by an inner (21a) and outer (21b) cylinder wall. The main flow is guided by vortex generators (9,9a) which create a vortex leaving behind a residual vortex when the fuel has been completely mixed with the air of the fuel and air mixture. The annular main current duct of constant height (H) has a length (L), downstream from the vortex generators and fuel injector, which is between 5 and 20 times the height. The annular main flow duct widens into a circular main flow duct by closing the inner cylinder wall (21a).

    Abstract: The method involves the liquid fuel being atomised by an air-blast nozzle (2). The required blast-air is supplied either by a fuel lance (3) or directly from a plenum chamber positioned in front of the burner. The fuel is then conveyed into the air-blast nozzle storage compartment (13), and finally as a fluid layer on the air-blast nozzle film layering tube (11). The fuel is then separated from the fluid layer in the form of drops by the blown air travelling past both sides of the tip of the film layering lip (15). The fuel is finally injected into the burner's interior as a constituent of the resulting fuel mixture.

    Abstract: The method involves ending partition wall (17) of the pilot gas duct (13) and the outer air duct (12) in the direction of flow in front of the atomising cross-section (15) of the air-blast nozzle (2). The pilot gas duct opens into the air inflow pipe (14) or into at least one of the air ducts (11,12). The pilot gas duct is connected to the outer air duct, and the opening (18) is positioned inside the air-blast nozzle. The partition wall contains several evenly distributed holes (26) opening at a tangent into the outer air duct, and pointing in the opposite direction in which the blown air (5) is flowing.

    Abstract: The mixture (25) of pilot gas (10) and air (17) for combustion is conveyed to a converter (21) inside the fuel lance (8) at the tip of the burner (2) for ignition and burning. The main burner gas (4) is supplied to the burner via a main gas pipe connected to the burner, and the pilot gas is supplied by a separate inflow pipe via the lance. The current of hot gas is mixed with the colder main current of gas inside the burner. The pilot gas is fed under pressure by a jet pump (22) integrated with the fuel lance. A sufficient quantity of combustion air is supplied from the plenum chamber outside the burner cap (6) into the lance, and pre-mixed with the pilot gas.
