Abstract: It is provided an subsea AC/AC power converter cell comprising: a cell input connection; input disconnector switches connected to respective input terminals of the input connection; a cell output connection for providing output AC power of one phase; at least one output disconnector switch connected between terminals of the output connection; a rectifier stage connected between the input disconnector switches and a DC bridge; a capacitor provided at the DC bridge; a synthesis stage connected between the DC bridge and the output disconnector switches, the synthesis stage comprising a plurality of cell switches; a cell controller configured to control the cell switches to provide a sinusoidal voltage on the output connection; and at least one disconnector input for receiving a signal external from the subsea AC/AC power converter cell to control the state of each one of the input disconnector switches and the at least one output disconnector switch.
