Abstract:
Disclosed herein are nutritional compositions for pregnant or lactating mothers, pre-term and term infants, toddlers and children which include natural vitamin E, a long chain polyunsaturated fatty acid (LC-PUFA) and a cartenoid such as lutein. Also disclosed are methods of administering these compositions for reducing or preventing the susceptibility of the fetal and newborn brain and lungs to hypoxia and the resulting disorders resulting therefrom including abnormal cognitive development, brain injury and lung injury.
Abstract:
Methods and nutritional compositions for improving or enhancing cognitive function, muscle function, or both in a subject are provided. The nutritional compositions comprise a combination of Bacopa and phosphatidylserine-docosahexaenoic acid complex.
Abstract:
Compositions including an effective amount of each of phosphatidyl serine, choline, and oleic acid, and methods for improving cognitive performance that include administering such compositions to a subject, are described herein. The compositions can be nutritional compositions such as bars or liquids suitable for oral administration. The combination of phosphatidyl serine, choline, and oleic acid provides synergistic or complimentary modes of action that improve the overall effect of these compounds.
Abstract:
Disclosed are compositions, such as liquid and solid nutritional compositions, that contain beta-hydroxy-beta-methylbutyric acid and optionally at least one protein, carbohydrate, fat, or a combination of protein, carbohydrate, and fat. Also disclosed are methods of using the compositions for improving physical endurance, locomotion, mobility and cognition in an individual, including a pediatric individual.
Abstract:
Disclosed are nutritional compositions including a combination of Curcumin and/or bioavailable Curcumin and docosahexaenoic acid. The combination improves cognitive performance in an individual, and, in one embodiment, improves a cognitive impairment and/or brain dysfunction associated with age-related cognitive decline or cognitive decline resulting from a neurodegenerative disease. This combination is also effective in improving memory acquisition, memory retention and recall in an individual.
