    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nucleic acid that can be used to functionally express a heterologous C. rugosa lipase in a common host cell, a lipase having a specific property for industrial applications and a microorganism capable of producing the lipase. SOLUTION: This isolated nucleic acid comprises a mutant DNA encoding a Candida rugosa lipase, wherein the mutant DNA is at least 80% identical to a wild-type DNA encoding the Candida rugosa lipase, and includes at least 12 codons corresponding to CTG codon in the wild-type DNA, each of the 12 codons, independently, being TCT, TCC, TCA, TCG, AGT, or AGC. A chimeric Candida rugosa lipase comprises a substrate interacting domain of a first C. rugosa lipase and a substrate interacting domain of a second C. rugosa lipase.
