Abstract: PURPOSE: To provide a floating point processor for pipeline-processing a series of calculation of a simple and compound arithmetic operation. CONSTITUTION: At least one arithmetic unit for executing arithmetic operation to an input operand given to the arithmetic unit, at least one accumulator for storing the result of the arithmetic operation executed by the arithmetic unit and a means for giving the result stored in the accumulator to the arithmetic unit are provided. The arithmetic operation is pipeline-processed by a stage deciding means for ordering the input operand, a result calculated by the arithmetic unit by using the input operand and a result calculated by the arithmetic unit by using the input operand and the accumulated operand through the floating point processor.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To accelerate system speed by providing a means for partially calculating respective two steps at the same time at least and for letting the means, with which respective two steps are calculated, perform just one calculation at one time. CONSTITUTION: The important part in the control of operations of accumulators 84, 86, 88 and 90 is to surely start the following operation to use any prescribed accumulator only when completing the preceding operation of write into that accumulator. Therefore, hardware interlock is applied and the following operation is prevented. The latch of an FRIPE section 78 contains a token original for each accumulator. This token reports the possibility or impossibility of utilization of the following operation to the accumulator. Namely, when the accumulator calculation not completed yet is required, it is forced to wait the output of calculation pipeline by the control token.
