Abstract: PURPOSE: To attain the certification of the other party of a data packet, safety for guaranteeing the prevention of the unauthorized reception of data, the improved monitoring of the data packet to be transmitted and received, and the change detection of a network topology by monitoring the transmission origin address of an incoming packet on a repeater, and comparing it with a value stored inside. CONSTITUTION: This is a repeater 12 for transmitting plural data packets, and the plural packets include a transmission origin address(SA) field and a destination address(DA) field. The repeater 12 includes plural repeater circuits, and at least one includes a system for tracking the SA connected with plural ports and inspecting validity. The system includes a means for storing a value indicating the SA field, extracting a value indicating the SA field from the received packet, and comparing the two values. Then, this system includes plural ports for transmitting the plural data packets for applying a signal in response to comparison indicating coincidence or incoincidence.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To provide a counter which meets IEEE standards and has a high cost efficiency. CONSTITUTION: A counter for attribute stored in an Ethernet is divided in such form that a storage section is separated from an incrementer section. By this division, the counter is realized in a much smaller space than individual counters. For the purpose of realizing this counter, a pair of latches 14 and 16, a random access memory 12 as the storage section, and a 32-bit incrementer 18 as the incrementer section are used in this counter.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To provide an IMR which efficiently operates in a form that adapts to an IEEE standard for a LAN network in a specific use range. CONSTITUTION: A system which monitors the operations of an IMR when a repeater is in a minimum mode is provided on an integrated multiport repeater(IMR). A serial output pin outputs a status based on an input, an incoming signal and a clock signal to an input pin through the system. For a preferable embodiment, four different status outputs, i.e., a partition, a loop back/link, a byte rate and an SQE/polarity exist. The system has availability for low end use that does not need a complicated control circuit.
