    Abstract: PURPOSE: To provide the system which monitors the source address of an incoming packet on a repeater and compares it with an internally stored value. CONSTITUTION: This is a system used for a network and a system which authenticates a data packet, gives safety for securely preventing unauthenticated data from being received, performs improved monitoring of data packets sent and received through the network, and detects changes of the network topology. The repeater used for this system provides improved features by giving detecting and interpreting capability for packet data, and a source address(AS), a destination address(DA), and a field.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To attain the certification of the other party of a data packet, safety for guaranteeing the prevention of the unauthorized reception of data, the improved monitoring of the data packet to be transmitted and received, and the change detection of a network topology by monitoring the transmission origin address of an incoming packet on a repeater, and comparing it with a value stored inside. CONSTITUTION: This is a repeater 12 for transmitting plural data packets, and the plural packets include a transmission origin address(SA) field and a destination address(DA) field. The repeater 12 includes plural repeater circuits, and at least one includes a system for tracking the SA connected with plural ports and inspecting validity. The system includes a means for storing a value indicating the SA field, extracting a value indicating the SA field from the received packet, and comparing the two values. Then, this system includes plural ports for transmitting the plural data packets for applying a signal in response to comparison indicating coincidence or incoincidence.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To detect the inverted polarity of a pair of differential input lines and to automatically corret it. CONSTITUTION: A differential receiver 10 incorporated in MAU receiving a link pulse and a Manchester packed has a polarity detection circuit 14 for automatically detecting the inverted polarity against RD input lines RD and RD and a correction circuit 12. The differential receiver samples an input pulse for the recognition of time, amplitude and pulse width and decides a preliminary polarity based on the polarity of the recognized pulse. The preliminary polarity enables a link test state machine to shift to a link path state and realizes the output driver of MAU. Link pulse polarity information decides polarity at first for the whole differential receiver asserting a FIX POLARITY signal. The FIX POLARITY signal controls the correction circuit and it internally corrects the inverted input lines.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To support a reinforced function in a communication network by detecting the preliminarily decided pattern of a link test pulse between stations. CONSTITUTION: A pair of twisted cables 52 transmits a data packet and a link beat pulse from one medium connecting unit(MAU) 50 to the other MAU 50. Then, the link test pulse of a specified pattern is applied from the first station, and the specified pattern indicates that the station is provided with a reinforced function. The second station receives the link test pulse of the specified pattern, and the second station is turned into a reinforced mode. Afterwards, the link test pulse of the specified pattern is applied from the second station to the first station, and the first station is turned into a reinforced mode.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To provide a twist pair integrated medium attachment unit(MAU) to be operated for sending a reliable transmission signal from and to digital terminal equipment(DTE) on a LAN while using a twist pair. CONSTITUTION: A twist pair MAU 50 is provided with an integrated circuit 52 and an external medium dependent interface 54. Besides, a variable loop back mode is integrated for allowing the MAU 50 to be functioned either as a DTE MAU or as a repeater MAU. Corresponding to a twist pair differential signal, a line driver applies a ramp response having low jitter. On the other hand, an improved attachment unit interface driver provides CMOS technique using and simplified partition symbol control for the end of transmission. The twist pair MAU 50 allows over ride, state display, automatic polarity inversion of differential input line and polarity state signal sending combined in link state.
