Abstract:
A butadiene polymer in which cis-configuration units resulting from a conjugated diene whose main skeleton has four carbon atoms account for at least 50 % of the whole of the units and which has an Mw/Mn ratio of 1.9 or below and an Mw value of 1,000 to 10,000,000. It can be prepared by polymerizing such a conjugated diene in the presence of a catalyst comprising (A) a group IV transition metal compound having a cyclopentadienyl skeleton and bearing one or more carbonyl or sulfonyl groups as the substituent and (B) an aluminoxane or an ionic compound capable of forming a cationic transition metal compound through the reaction thereof with the compound (A).
Abstract:
Surface properties of a shaped article of vinyl chloride polymer are modified by mixing at least 0.005 wt.% of U.V. absorber with the polymer. The polymer compsn. is fabricated into a shaped article and irradiated with U.V. light predominantly of wavelength 200 nm or shorter. Exudation of plasticiser is prevented, even during long periods of outdoor use of an article.
Abstract:
A method for reducing static electricity on the surface of a shaped article made of polyvinyl chloride resins, which method comprises the steps of (a) blending a surface active agent with the polyvinyl chloride resin prior to fabrication of the resin into a shaped article, (b) fabricating the resin admixed with the surface active agent into a shaped article, and (c) subjecting the shaped article to a treatment with low temperature plasma of a gas.
Abstract:
The invention provides a novel method for obtaining a shaped article of a vinyl chloride-based resin which is markedly insusceptible to the undesirable phenomenon of exudation or bleeding of the plasticizer and other additive ingredients contained therein on to the surface of the article. The method comprises formulating the resin composition for the fabrication of the shaped article with an epoxy compound containing, preferably, at least 2% by weight of the oxirane oxygen in the molecule in an amount of at least 0.05% by weight based on the vinyl chloride-based resin and irradiating the shaped article with ultraviolet light having a substantial energy distribution in the wavelength region of 200 nm or shorter. The shaped article obtained by the inventive method is remarkably insusceptible to the plasticizer bleeding even after prolonged outdoor exposure or irradiation with ultraviolet light having wavelengths longer than 290 nm.
