Abstract: A lipid represented by the following formula: MO-(CO-CH2-NH)p-CO-(CH2)n-CO-(NH-CH2-CO)q-OM wherein M represents a hydrogen atom or an alkali metal, n is an integer of 6-18 and p and q each represent an integer of at least 1 with the proviso that a total of p and q is not greater than 6. When an aqueous solution of an alkali metal salt of the lipid is allowed to stand for 2-3 weeks, a fibrous microtube including a tubular body having a diameter of 1-3 mu m and a plurality of spherical vesicles contained within the tubular body and having a diameter of 0.1-3 mu m is formed.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new subject compound including a glycolipid having a long chain alkyl derivative of aspartic acid as a hydrophobic part, capable of being obtained by performing mass synthesis from a cheap raw material and forming a stable molecular aggregate according to strong self clustering properties and useful as a surfactant, etc. SOLUTION: The subject compound is a new N-glucoside type glycolipid of formula I (X is an aldose residue in which a carbon at a reducing terminal corresponds to an N-glycoside bond; R is a 12-18C long chain alkyl; R' is methyl or ethyl) having a long chain alkyl derivative of aspartic acid as a hydrophobic part. The compound can be obtained by performing a mass synthesis from a cheap raw material and formed into a stable molecular aggregate according to strong self clustering properties and is useful as a material for forming a liposome membrane in a pharmaceutical and cosmetic field, a ultrathin membrane, a ultrafine structure, a micro electronic part in an electronic and information field, and an emulsifier in a food and a fiber industries. The compound is obtained by reacting an aspartic acid derivative of formula II with an amino acid having protected hydroxyl group and thereafter removing the protecting group.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a glycolipid produced by condensing an acetylated amino sugar with a dicarboxylic acid and deacetylating the condensation product, having high self-accumulation property to form a stable molecular agglomerate and useful as a functional material in the fields of pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, electronic information, food, etc. SOLUTION: The objective double-head lipid is expressed by the formula III (R and R are each a residue formed by removing a reducing terminal hydroxyl group from aldopyranose), dispersible in water to form an organic ultrathin film or closed vesicle or capable of forming a thermotropic liquid crystal in bulk or lyotropic liquid crystal together with a proper solvent and useful as a functional material. The lipid can be produced by catalytically reducing one or two kinds of azido sugars expressed by the formula I (acetylR is a residue formed by removing a reducing terminal hydroxyl group from aldopyranose and protecting all of the remaining hydroxyl groups with acetyl group) in the presence of a catalyst, condensing the obtained amino sugar with a dicarboxylic acid expressed by the formula II ((n) is an integer of 6-18) and deacetylating the condensation product.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce the subject new glycolipid comprising a specific polymerizable double-headed type glycolipid having plural acetylene groups and self-assembling properties, capable of forming a microfibrous aggregate and useful as a carrier or an adsorbent in living bodies, an organic electrode, a microelectronic part, or the like. SOLUTION: This new polymerizable double-headed type glycolipid is represented by the formula [A and A are each a residue after removing reducing terminal hyroxyl group from an aldopyranose or at least a part of hydroxyl groups therein are protected; (x) and (y) are each an integer of 3-8] [e.g. N,N'- bis(2,3,4,6-tetra-O-acetyl-β-D-glucopyranosyl)decan-4,6-diyne-1,10-dicarboxamide] and is useful as a carrier or an adsorbent in living bodies, an organic electrode capable of carrying out oxidation and reduction or an microelectronic part, or the like, by doping thereof with an electroconductive substance. The compound is produced by reducing 2,3,4,6-tetra-O-acetyl-β-D-glucopyranosyl azide, or the like, and then reacting the resultant compound with 5,7-dodecadiynedioic acid chloride, or the like.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new compound comprising an oligopeptide chain containing an amino acid reside such as glycine residue or the like is bonded to both ends of a long-chain alkylene group, readily producible from inexpensive raw materials, useful as a functional material capable of forming a stable molecular aggregate by high self clustering. SOLUTION: This compound is shown by formula I (Al,... and Am are each glycine residue, proline residue or sarcosine residue; (m) is 2-12; (n) is 8-18) such as N,N'-bis(glycylglycine)decane-1,10-dicarboxamide. The compound of the formula is obtained, for example, by condensing an oligopeptide hydrochloride containing a free N end (amino group end) and a protected C end of the formula HCl.H-Am-...-Al-OR (OR is a C end protecting group of amino acid) (e.g. glycylglycine benzyl ester hydrochloride or the like) with a compound of the formula: HOOC-(CH2 )n -COOH (e.g. 1,10-clecanedicarboxylic acid or the like) and then eliminating the C end protecting group OR).

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fine fibrous polymer with chemical and physical stability which can not have been obtained so far, by polymerizing a molecular aggregate of a double-headed glycolipid obtainable by synthesis. Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a tube-like fiber structure having encapsulated vesicles useful for a fine chemical field, etc., as a functional material, a medical material by dissolving a specific sodium salt of a two-head-type peptide lipid in water, allowing a crystal to grow by leaving the one at a room temperature in air, etc., and encapsulating many vesicles. SOLUTION: A sodium salt of two-head-type peptide fo the formula [GL is a residue of glycine; (m) is 1-3; (n) is 6-18] having C-ends of amino acids at the both ends is dissolved in water, leaving the solution at a room temperature in air or a slightly acidic atmosphere to allow the crystal to grow and to provide a fiber structure encapsulating many vesicles and having closed tip parts and a tube-like shape. The objective tube-like fiber structure having the encapsulated vesicles is obtained by isolating the resultant fiber structure, dehydrating the fiber structure, drying the fiber structure in vacuum and thereafter adding water again to hydrate the fiber structure again. The fiber structure can also be used in an electronic and information field, etc.
