Abstract: NEW MATERIAL:A compound expressed by formula I (R is 3-12C alkyl). EXAMPLE:3-Propoxythiophene. USE:A raw material of polymer for organic electronic material. PREPARATION:3-Halogenated thiophene expressed by formula II (X is halogen) is reacted with an alkyl alcoholate (e.g. sodium propoxide) expressed by the formula R-O-M (M is alkali metal) in the presence of cupric oxide in a pressure resistant vessel. Furthermore, the above-mentioned reaction is preferably carried out in the presence of potassium iodide.

Abstract: NEW MATERIAL:A thiophene compound of formula I (n is 6-16). EXAMPLE:1,4-bis(3-thienyl)butane. USE:Useful for wider application of polythiophene and its derivatives in the form of organic electronic materials. When thiophene or its derivative is to be put to electrolytic or chemical polymerization. addition of this novel compound will improve the mechanical and electrical properties of an organic electronic material formed. PREPARATION:A reaction is made between a di-Grignard reagent of formula II (X is halogen) and two molar times of a 3-halogenated thiophene to obtain the objective compound of the formula I. It is preferable that the reaction be carried out in the presence of an organometallic complex such as dichloro[bis(triphenylphosphine)]nickel using a dehydrated solvent in an inert atmosphere at temperatures of 30 deg.C to the reflux temperature.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To readily obtain the subject compound utilizable as organic electronic materials by converting into a polymer using an easily available stable and readily handleable raw material by reacting an alkali metallized thiophene with an alkyl halogenoether. CONSTITUTION:A 3-alkali metallized thiophene expressed by formula I (M is alkali metal) is reacted with an alkyl halogenomethyl ether (e.g. halogenomethyl methyl ether) expressed by the formula CH2X-O-R (X is halogen; R is alkyl) to afford the objective compound expressed by formula II.
