    Abstract: 1,163,822. Polyamide blends. ALLIED CHEMICAL CORP. 3 Feb., 1967 [3 Feb., 1966], No. 5415/67. Heading C3R. A nylon blend suitable for tyre cords comprises (a) 40 to 90 wt. per cent of nylon 6 or 66 and (b) 10 to 60 wt. per cent of a copolymer containing at least 35 mol per cent units derived from a monomer and at least 18 mol per cent from a monomer where R is H or acyl; m and n are each 0, 1, 2 or 3, but are both 0 in the first formula when R 1 is phenylene; R 1 is meta-phenylene or cyclohexylene; and R 2 is para-phenylene or -cyclohexylene. Blending may be effected by melting or precipitation from a common solvent. To prevent interaction in the melt carboxyl end groups in the copolymer may be reduced by including in the copolymerization up to 10 mol per cent of a monoamine, e.g. benzyl-, α- phenylethyl-, ethyl-, i-propyl-, n-heptyl- or cyclohexylamine, aniline or p-toluidine, or of a diamine, e.g. an alkylene, cycloalkylene or arylene diamine. In examples copolymers of benzylamine - 3 - carboxylic acid and benzylamine - 4 - carboxylic acid, benzylamine - 4 - acetic acid or aminomethylcyclohexane-4-carboxylic acid are used, usually derived from a mixture of monomers in which R is both H and acyl.
