Abstract: A magnet brake is disclosed. The magnet brake may consist of a stationary magnet (26) assembly and a rotating magnet assembly (22). The opposing poles on the magnet assemblies have a mutual attraction that biases the assemblies into alignment with each other. The magnet brake may also be combined with Hall-effect switches to provide position and direction detection.
