Abstract: The present invention is directed to a process for treating an aqueous KF waste stream comprising at least one treatment step selected from the group consisting of inert gas stripping the aqueous KF waste stream, passing said waste stream through a carbon bed, concentrating said waste stream or a combination thereof to remove dissolved organic compounds. The present invention is also directed to subjecting the treated KF waste stream to electrodialytic splitting in a water splitting cell to form HF and either KOH or an acid depleted salt stream. The dilute HF can be concentrated to a concentrated and commercially viable product.
