Abstract: A cleaning cassette (40) for cleaning a tape drive unit having a capstan (16) and a read/write head (22) is disclosed. Abstract: Device for cleaning a head assembly (12) of a magnetic tape player and/or recorder with a cleaning solution. The device includes a housing (14) adapted to be inserted in the player/recorder in a cleaning position, a drive mechanism (18) and wiper arm (16) connected within the housing (14) for providing oscillating movement, and a cleaning head (20) connected to the wiper arm (16) for cleaning the head assembly (12). The cleaning head (20) comprises a rigid body (82) having a plurality of cleaning materials (84, 86, 88) extending forwardly out of the rigid body (82). One of the cleaning materials is a solution-holding material (84) characterized by its ability to absorb a cleaning solution, for spreading the cleaning solution on the head assembly (12). Another cleaning material (86, 88), comprising a relatively stiffer material for scrubbing the head assembly, is positioned on both sides of the solution-holding material (84). In use, the drive mechanism (18) within the housing is driven by the tape player and/or recorder such that it moves the wiper arm (16) with the attached cleaning head (20) back and forth along a transverse path on the head assembly (12) to be cleaned as it both spreads a cleaning solution and scrubs the area clean. The device also includes a cleaning cartridge (150) for cleaning the drive capstan and pinch roller of the associated player/recorder. The cleaning cartridge is provided with a first cleaning pad (154) for cleaning the pinch roller and a second cleaning pad (156) for cleaning the drive capstan. The cleaning cartidge pivots to ensure the drive capstan and pinch roller are properly cleaned.

Abstract: A storage apparatus (10) for holding containers such as those in which compact discs or tape cassettes are stored. The storage device of this invention includes a bottom member (11) a top member (13) that is spaced from the bottom member, and a pair of side walls (12) used to couple the top member to the bottom member. A retaining member (42) with a number of downwardly extending flexible fingers (43) is attached to the bottom surface of the top member. The flexible fingers extend downward and are dimensioned so that the distance between the surface of the bottom member and the finger is less than the height of the containers that the device is intended to store. The bottom member is formed with a main surface (16) directed toward the rear of the device and is formed with small ribs (16c) and a smooth surface (16a) that slopes downwardly from the main surface toward the front edge of the device. The storage apparatus is dimensioned such that the front ends of the containers which it is designed to hold extend out in front of the apparatus. When a container is inserted in the storage device of this invention, the container is prevented from sliding by either adjacent containers and/or the edges of one or more of the adjacent fingers. The container is removed by pushing downward on the exposed outer corner of the container. This motion causes the container to pivot outward way from the device where it can then be grabbed and pulled away.

Abstract: A hand-held device (10) for cleaning data-bearing cards (12) includes a housing (16), a fluid applicator pad (18), a scrubber pad (20), a drying pad (22), and a removable panel (14). Abstract: A bicycle (10) with a frame (12) formed out of composite material is disclosed. The frame of this bicycle includes a head unit or module (34) that is attached to two body units (36, 38). The head unit and body unit are formed out of a urethane core and can be formed of stiffened fiberglass, carbon fibers, or like nonmetallic material. The head unit and body units are formed with bores (78, 81, 83, 90) in which sleeves and cables are seated to accommodate the installation of the other components of the bicycle to the frame. Abstract: A glare filter (10) for use with a visual display terminal (12) having a display screen (13) on its forward side is disclosed. The glare filter includes a filter screen (20), a mount (14), and couplings (16). The filter screen has lateral edges, a top edge, and a bottom edge. A mount is secured to the terminal and includes two lateral guides (24) that form channels (28). The distance between the channels is slightly larger than the width of the filter screen to slidably receive the lateral edges of the filter screen. The channels are oriented generally transverse to the surface of the display screen, such that the filter screen may be held above the terminal and above the display screen. The couplings extend from the filter screen and slidably and pivotally engage within the channels of the lateral guides. This allows the filter screen to be pivoted downwardly to a position overlying the display screen. Abstract: An apparatus for cleaning a video cassette player/recorder machine is disclosed. The apparatus is for cleaning a machine that has a recess to receive a tape cassette (12), a rotating head drum (30), a plurality of guide members (46, 48, 50, 52, 54, 56) movable between a nonoperating position and an operating position, and a spool-brake deactivator pin (78). The apparatus of the invention includes a housing (112), an activation mechanism (138, 140, 142, 162), and a cleaning element (148). The housing is adapted to be positioned in the recess of the machine. The activation mechanism is engaged and moved by the spool-brake deactivator pin when the housing is positioned in the recess of the machine. The apparatus also includes two spools (120, 122) rotatably coupled within the housing and a cleaning ribbon (124) attached to the spools. The cleaning ribbon is positioned within the housing to be engaged by the guide members of the machine such that it contacts one side of the rotating head drum when the guide members are in an engaged positioned.
