    Abstract: A pair of insulating electrical connector blocks has a plurality of cavities having contact terminals therein. The terminals are sealed in their respective cavities against the passage of moisture or gas. The terminals are locked in their respective cavities by shutter plates on the rearward ends of the blocks. The shutter plates slidably move a limited amount in one direction to align the large ends of keyhole slots with each cavity so that terminals may be inserted into the cavities; the shutter plates slidably move a limited amount in the other direction so that the small ends of the keyhole slots straddle the lead wires where they leave the terminals and lock the terminals in the cavities.

    Abstract: A system is disclosed which features precision alignment of receptacles having depending terminals thereon within headers adapted to receive integrated circuit components thereon. The individual header is made of a suitable insulating material and has a plurality of apertures therein, each of which has two intersecting surfaces precisely located relative to a master reference point. The receptacles have plural spring means thereon which bias the receptacle into the corner defined by the intersecting surfaces. The receptacles also have spring contact fingers at the end opposite the depending terminal for receiving posts or leads form an integrated circuit component. The header has located thereon plural latching features for positively retaining thereon an integrated circuit component.

    Abstract: Component mounting system for metallic printed circuit boards having insulating coatings on their surfaces is disclosed in which the drilled hole in the metallic board is lined with a thin walled liner of plastic tubing. A metallic receptacle is positioned in the liner so that the liner electrically insulates the receptacle from the metallic portion of the printed circuit board. The lead wire from the component is inserted into the receptacle and the board is solder-dipped to electrically connect the lead wire to a connecting path on the board. The heat from the soldering operation causes the liner to radially expand so that it achieves a tight fit in the hole. The board acts as a heat sink for the components mounted thereon but the board is electrically isolated from the components excepting where it is used as a grounding plane.

    Abstract: A dual purpose connector for both securely holding a visual display panel of the LED or liquid crystal type, and for making electrical contact therewith. The connector is a generally flat, plate-like element with a protruding ledge running along the lower edge thereof and a protruding shoulder extending at right angles to the ledge. The display panel is mounted on the connector with its lower edge resting on the housing ledge, and one end thereof abutting against the shoulder. The ledge is comprised of a series of short, parallel ribs which form grooves therebetween. Contacts are pressed into these grooves. When the panel is mounted on the connector these contacts enter a slot formed in the bottom edge of the display panel and mate with display panel contacts formed in said slot. A panel locking means including a wedge is provided. The wedge is forced in between an overhanging inclined-plane portion of the housing and the top edge of the display panel to thereby press the panel down upon the connector ledge. The wedge is oriented so that any movement of the panel away from the shoulder functions only to tighten the wedge.
