Abstract: PURPOSE: To connect plural peripheral equipments with a single port, and to apply different addresses from a host computer to the plural peripheral equipments having a common hard wired address. CONSTITUTION: When the same hard wired address is applied to plural peripheral equipments, collision occurs at the time of responding to a command transmitted to the destination of the address from a host computer. When the collision occurs, the host computer is allowed to know that the collision occurs, and the peripheral equipments are identified by applying different digits stored in a soft address location to each peripheral equipment.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To obtain a simple and also effective method for connecting plural peripheral equipments to HCOMP by transmitting data and a signal from a host computer(HCOMP) to a desired peripheral equipment through a bus. CONSTITUTION: Plural peripheral equipments 11-16 are connected to HCOMP 10 with a single cable 17. An extension address device 15 is provided with a common hard wired address(HWA) 35 and also with a peculiar extension address 29 for identification when HCOMP 10 addresses the individual device. At first, HCOMP 10 simply addresses one device by HWA 35. At this time, the whole devices having the same address are stopped. When HCOMP 10 transmits a coincident signal to the extension address of the specified device, the device becomes an operation state by HCOMP 10. After that, a command to the device is transferred to the device and executed only by HWA 35 without supplying the extension address on each occasion.
