    Abstract: In a first embodiment a client devices assesses network performance (bandwidth) and determines from this a suitable quality level of an asset (eg. video/audio file) for downloading (Fig. 5b). In a second embodiment, in response to a play command a client device assesses if it stores locally a digital asset of a desired (high) quality. If not it assesses whether it is available from a cache or a cloud server and whether the network performance is adequate for downloading the asset. If so the asset is retrieved from the cache cloud. If a high quality asset is unobtainable, a lower quality asset may be played back. A similar local/cache/cloud assessment procedure applies. In a third embodiment the client may assess locally stored low quality assets and network performance in response to an upgrade event. If network performance is suitable the locally stored assets may be upgraded by downloading higher quality versions. This may happen as a background operation (Fig. 7).

    Abstract: MANAGEMENT OF DOWNLOADS FROM A NETWORK-BASED DIGITAL DATA REPOSITORY BASED ON NETWORK PERFORMANCE Improved techniques and systems for storage, delivery and acquisition of digital assets stored in cloud data storage. Cloud data storage can be provided by a cloud data repository that is capable of storing digital data for various users. A given 10 user can access cloud data storage from any of his/her authorized client devices via a network. A given client device can access not only locally stored digital assets but also remotely stored digital assets from cloud data storage. In one embodiment, downloads of digital assets resident in cloud data storage to client devices can be managed in view of available network performance. As one example, digital assets 15 of differing quality levels can be downloaded in a manner dependent on network performance.     Abstract: A method and apparatus (100, 150, 170, 190, 195) for facilitating the capturing of panoramic images (210) with a portable device (100, 150, 170, 190, 195). Such panoramic images are typically formed of multiple image portions (212, 214, 216, 218) taking as the camera (195) is scanned through a range of motion, and the image portions (212, 214, 216, 218) are digitally "stitched" together to form a panoramic image (210). A user interface is provided to guide a user in positioning and/or moving of the portable device (100, 150, 170, 190, 195) in a manner that will enable capture of a plurality of images (212, 214, 216, 218) suited for forming the intended panoramic image (210). In many examples, parameters of the panoramic image capturing operation, such as movement and/or positioning of the camera during the operation will be monitored in real time, and the monitored parameters will be used to provide feedback to the user as to any adjustments that may improve the image capture process.
