Abstract: In some implementations, a first computing device can send notifications at times that the first computing device is not in an expected location. A user of a second computing device can remotely configure an expected location for the first computing device, which may be a particular location for a certain period of time. During that time, the first computing device can monitor its own location and check whether it is within the expected location. If the first computing device unexpectedly leaves or fails to enter the expected location, the first computing device may transmit a notification to the second computing device. Similarly, if the first computing device loses connectivity with other devices, a server device may notify the second computing device that the location of the first computing device cannot be determined.

In verschiedenen Implementierungen empfängt eine anfragende Vorrichtung oder ein Servercomputer, der mit der anfragenden Vorrichtung in Kommunikation steht, eine Standortfreigabeanfrage, die einem Benutzer zugeordnet ist, und sendet als Reaktion eine Benachrichtigung an eine Begleitvorrichtung, die dem Benutzer zugeordnet ist. Ein Standort der Begleitvorrichtung wird von der Begleitvorrichtung kommend zusammen mit einer Liste einer oder mehrerer dem Benutzer zugeordneter Vorrichtungen, die mit der Begleitvorrichtung gekoppelt sind, und einem Verbindungsstatus für mindestens eine der einen oder mehreren gekoppelten Vorrichtungen empfangen. Der Verbindungsstatus zeigt an, ob eine direkte Kommunikationsverbindung zwischen der gekoppelten Vorrichtung und der Begleitvorrichtung hergestellt wurde. Eine Benachrichtigung wird an jede getrennte gekoppelte Vorrichtung basierend auf dem Verbindungsstatus gesendet. Jede getrennte Vorrichtung, die von dem Benutzer am Körper getragen oder mitgeführt wird, antwortet mit ihrem Standort.

One embodiment provides for a data processing system configured to perform operations comprising loading a user interface on an electronic device, the user interface to enable the determination of a location of a wireless accessory that is associated with the electronic device, generating a set of public keys included within a signal broadcast by the wireless accessory, the signal broadcast during a first period, sending the set of public keys to a server with a request to return data that corresponds with a public key in the set of public keys, decrypting the location data using a private key associated with the public key, and processing the location data to determine a probable location for the wireless accessory.
