    Abstract: An electronic device detects an input. While detecting the input, the device enters a transitional user interface mode where different user interface states can be selected based on a comparison of properties of the input to one or more thresholds. The device detects a gesture including a first change in the input. If the end of the input is detected with a first temporal proximity to the first change, the device selects a final user interface state based on input properties corresponding to the end of the input and one or more first values of the one or more thresholds. If the end of the input is detected with a second temporal proximity to the first change, the device selects a final user interface state based on input properties corresponding to the end of the input and one or more second values of the one or more thresholds.
