Abstract:
A device with a touch-sensitive display may be unlocked via gestures performed on the touch-sensitive display. The device is unlocked if contact with the display-corresponds to a prededfined gesture for unlocking the device. The device displays one or more unlock images with respect to which the predefined gesture is to be performed in order to unlock the device. The performance of the predefined gesture with respect to the unlock image may include moving the unlock image to a predefined location and/or moving the unlock image along a predefined path. The device may also display visual cues of the predefined gesture on the touch screen to remind a user of the gestures.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for managing data, such as metadata. In one exemplary method, metadata from files created by several different software applications are captured, and the captured metadata is searched. The type of information in metadata for one type of file differs from the type of information in metadata and another type of file. Other methods are described and data processing systems and machine readable media are also described.
Abstract:
A portable electronic device displays a plurality of icons (e.g., graphical objects) in a region in a touch-sensitive display; detects a predefined user action, with respect to the touch-sensitive display, for initiating a predefined user interface reconfiguration process; and varies positions of one or more icons in the plurality of icons in response to detecting the predefined user action. The varying includes varying the positions of the one or more icons about respective average positions.

Abstract:
Movement of a point of contact by a user over an index on a touch-sensitive display is determined. The displayed index has a sequence of index items. In response to the movement, a list of information items on the touch-sensitive display is scrolled. The list of information items may include a sequence of information item subsets corresponding to the sequence of index items. The scrolling may include scrolling through a respective information item subset if the point of contact moves over a corresponding respective index item.
Abstract:
Providing a bridge interface for managing virtual workspaces is disclosed. A plurality of workspace images is presented in a user interface, each workspace image corresponding to a different virtual workspace available to a user of a computer system. A user input is received indicating a selection of a presented workspace image. The user interface is updated to display a plurality of application windows associated with the selected virtual workspace. The displayed application windows are visually grouped into one or more clusters, each cluster corresponding to one or more application windows sharing a common characteristic.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a computer implemented method for initiating floating controls via a touch sensitive device, the method comprising: detecting the presence of an object on the touch sensitive device; recognizing the object; and generating a user interface element on the touch screen in the vicinity of the object based on the recognized object.
Abstract:
In accordance with some embodiments, a computer-implemented method for use in conjunction with a device (100) with a touch screen display (112) is disclosed. In the method, at least a first portion of an electronic document (1302) is displayed at a first magnification, a gesture (3931, 3933) on or near the touch screen display corresponding to a command to zoom in by a user-specified amount is detected, decreasing portions of the electronic document (1302) at increasing magnifications are displayed, in response to detecting the gesture (3931, 3933), and a respective portion of the electronic document at a predefined magnification is displayed if, upon detecting termination of the gesture (3931, 3933), the magnification exceeds the predefined magnification.
