    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a non-video radiation energy device having desirable characteristics based on a radiation energy flow line. SOLUTION: The radiation energy device 180 includes a radiation energy source 190 which has an end, a first lens 182 which is positioned to accept the radiation energy from the radiation energy source 190, an optical element which has nonlinear reflection surfaces 184 and 186 on which the radiation energy from the first lens 182 is made incident, a second lens 188 which receives the reflection of the incident radiation energy on the nonlinear reflection surfaces 184 and 186 past the first lens 182, and a radiation energy receptor 192 which is so positioned as to accept the radiation energy from the second lens 188 and has an end. The nonlinear reflection surfaces 184 and 186 of the optical element are formed to such a shape that the plural effective optical path distances arriving at the end of the radiation energy receptor 192 through the points on the nonlinear reflection surfaces 184 and 186 from the end of the radiation energy source 190 are constant with respect to each of the points on the nonlinear reflection surfaces 184 and 186.

    Abstract: A nonimaging radiant energy device may include a hyperbolically shaped reflective element with a radiant energy inlet and a radiant energy outlet. A convex lens is provided at the radiant energy inlet and a concave lens is provided at the radiant energy outlet. Due to the provision of the lenses and the shape of the walls of the reflective element, the radiant energy incident at the radiant energy inlet within a predetermined angle of acceptance is emitted from the radiant energy outlet exclusively within an acute exit angle. In another embodiment, the radiant energy device may include two interconnected hyperbolically shaped reflective elements with a respective convex lens being provided at each aperture of the device.
