Abstract: PURPOSE:To introduce nitrogen into crystal structure without decomposition, by preparing alloy so as to have an average grain diameter and average crystal grain diameter containing one kind of rare earth element containing Y and one kind of transition metal element, with ThMn12 type crystal structure, and performing nitriding reaction by heating the alloy in nitrogen gas. CONSTITUTION:RFe11M alloy [R (rare earth) = Sm, Nd, Pr, M=Ti, Mo, V] having ThMn12 type structure is prepared by a high frequency melting method, and annealed at a temperature 1373K or lower for 10-300 hours to make alloy composition uniform. Thereby crystal grain diameter is prepared. After the crystal is ground into particles whose diameter is 10mum or smaller, particles whose diameters are 2-3mum or smaller are eliminated by using an air flow winnowing apparatus or the like. Thereby powder whose diameters are in the range of 2-10mum is prepared. After the powder is heated up to 300 deg.C in hydrogen gas, cooling down to a room temperature is sufficient. As to nitriding after that, a necessary nitrogen amount can be obtained by treatment in nitrogen gas at 300-350 deg.C for 1-10 hours, and stable uniform magnetic material can be manufactured.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve magnetic characteristic and facilitate the manufacture of this magnet by containing magnetic powder materials having specific compositions of rare earth element--iron - nitrogen - hydrogen and oxygen. CONSTITUTION:This magnet contains rare earth elements - iron - nitrogen - hydrogen - oxygen system magnetic power materials expressed by an formula I. In the expression I, being expressed by atomic percentages, alpha-delta satisfy formulas II-V and Re is rare earth element containing yttrium. As to the rare earth elements - iron - nitrogen - hydrogen - oxygen system magnetic materials which are used, even through they are formed into fine grains having about each size 2-3mum, they have characteristics to hold also a high magnetic characteristic. In this way, the magnetic characteristic is improved and a magnet is manufactured easily.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain stable magnetic recording medium excellent in characteristics, by using fine powder composed of rare earth element-iron- nitrogen-hydrogen whose composition is specified, as magnetic powder. CONSTITUTION:Material to be used has a basic composition wherein 0.01-50at% of ReFeNH or Fe is substituted by Ni or Co, where Re shows at least one kind out of rare earth containing Y. That is Re is Nd, Pr, La, Ce, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Eu, Sm, Gd, Tm, Yb, Lu and Y. Mixture of rare earth elements like didymium and misch metal is also contained. Re is required to be in the range of 5-20at%. When it is less than or equal to 5at%, the coercive force becomes small. When it exceeds 20at%, the saturation magnetization becomes small. Nitrogen and hydrogen are required to be in the ranges of 5-30at% and 0.01-25at% respectively. When hydrogen content exceeds 25at%, the coercive force decreases. When less than 0.01%, magnetic property is poor. Fe is desirable to be in the range of 50-90at%.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To manufacture a thin film which is superior in magnetic characteristic by forming a specific thin film of about 100Angstrom -5mum thickness. CONSTITUTION:A thin film is made of rare earth elements iron-nitrogen- hydrogen-oxygen system magnetic materials which are expressed by an expression I or the thin film contains these magnetic materials and each thin film is 100Angstrom -5mum thick. Being expressed by atomic percentages, alpha-delta satisfy expressions II-V and Re shows rare earth elements containing yttrium. As one of the methods for manufacturing a rare earth elements-iron-nitrogen-hydrogen- oxygen system magnetic thin film, for example, the rare earth elements-iron system thin film is formed by a sputtering process or a molecular beam epitaxial process and the like and after that, its thin film is treated with heat in an atmosphere of the mixture of ammonium-hydrogen or the mixture of nitrogen- hydrogen and then, introduction of nitrogen and hydrogen,and the like; besides, another method for manufacturing thin films are performed. The thin films which are superior in a magnetic characteristic are thus manufactured easily.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To produce a magnetic material having sufficient coercive force, square ratio, and saturation magnetic flux density by crushing a magnetic material consisting of rare earths, Fe, N, H, and O, adding Mg, etc., to the crushed magnetic material, sintering the resulting powder mixture, and preparing a bulk magnet of two phase separation type. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic material consisting of Re (one or more kinds among rare earth elements including Y), Fe, N, H, and O is crushed until an average grain size of about several microns to 10mu is reached, and component M (one or more kinds among Mg, Ti, Zr, Cu, Zn, Al, Ga, In, Si, Ge, Sn, Pb, Bi, and the oxide, fluoride, carbide, nitride, and hydride of Re) is added to the crushed magnetic material, and then, the resulting powder mixture is sintered at about 100-650 deg.C in a nonoxidizing atmosphere, by which a two phase separation type bulk magnet which has a phase increased in component M content in the microstructure grain boundaries in the structure and a phase reduced in or free from component M content in the central part of the grain and also has a composition represented by a formula is produced. Further, the symbols (alpha), (beta), (gamma), (delta), and (epsilon) in the formula stand for 5-20, 5-25, 0.01-5, 0.01-10, and 0.1-40 by mole percentage, respectively.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a magnet powder having a high magnetic characteristic by controlling the content of particles of 1mum or below in size to a specified value or less in volume ratio. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic powder containing at least one of the rare earth elements and Y, at least one of the transition metal elements, and at least one of N, O, H, B and C, and further having a hexagonal or rhombic Th2Zn17 type structure. The R-Fe-N magnet powder has its magnetic domain singularized but it has a wide particle size distribution. This, especially the presence of fine particles of 1mum or below, prevents a magnet material from developing its maximum characteristics. By narrowing and unifying the particle size distribution the characteristics of a magnet will be improved; it is required to reduce the content of fine particles of 1mum or below to 10% or less in volume. 5% or less is preferable and 1% or less is the best. A thus obtained magnet powder is highly magnetized and has a high rectangularity ratio, useful as a powder for permanent magnets.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic-material resin composite material whose magnetic characteristic is high, whose surface smoothness, mechanical strength and dimensional stability are excellent and whose molding property and magnetic-field orientation property are excellent by a method wherein the following are contained in specific amounts: a rare earth-iron-nitrogen-based magnetic pulverulent body; a specific coupling agent; a thermoplastic resin; and a lubricant. CONSTITUTION:This magnetic-material resin composite material is constituted of the following: 70 to 95wt.% of a rare earthiron-nitrogen-based pulverulnent body; 0.01 to 5wt.% of a coupling agent which has one kind or two or more kinds of organic chains out of an amino group, an alkyl group, a >=3 C alkoxy group, a >=10 C phenoxy group, a methacrylic group, a sulfonyl group, a mercapto group, an ester bond, a phosphoric ester bond, a pyrophosphoric ester bond, a phosphorus ester bond, a urea bond and an amide bond and which contains at least one kind out of titanium and silicon; 3 to 30wt.% of a thermoplastic resin; and 0 to 5wt.% of a lubricant. The magnetic-material resin composite material is excellent in its molding property and its magnetic characteristic, and it is possible to obtain a bonded magnet whose dimensional stability and surface smoothness are extremely good.
