    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transition metal-based olefin polymerization catalyst having a new polydentate ligand, giving high polymer yield per catalyst weight, affording a high-molecular weight olefinic polymer, having high stability under polymerization conditions, enabling the molecular weight of the polymer to be controlled by hydrogenation, and capable of reducing the amount of a cocatalyst alkyl aluminoxane or the like to be used. SOLUTION: This catalyst consists of at least one transition metal compound selected from groups 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 transition metal compounds including lanthanum series and having the new polydentate ligand L 1 containing a group 5B or 6B element and a ligand L 2 ; wherein the combination of these two ligands is such that the ligand L 1 is a trispirazolyl tridentate ligand and the ligand L 2 is an alkapolyenyl ligand having a σ-bond and at least two π-bonds.     Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce ε-caprolactam with an industrially advantageous simple method comprising small number of steps in high conversion of each step, high productivity and decreased energy consumption under a mild reaction condition with simple operation and equipment essentially without producing ammonium sulfate as a by-product while dispensing with a reaction reagent necessitating a complicate process for preparation. SOLUTION: ε-Caprolactam is produced by using benzene as a starting raw material and successively subjecting the material to partial hydrogenation, nitration, partial hydrogenation and vapor-phase rearrangement reaction.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing cyclohexanone oxime by a few processes in high conversion/productivity with small energy consumption under a mild reaction condition by a simple operation/facility. SOLUTION: This method for producing cyclohexanone oxime is characterized in that benzene is used as a starting raw material and production processes comprise (1) a process for partially hydrogenating (A) benzene in the presence of a catalyst (A) to give cyclohexene, (2) a process for nitrating cyclohexene to give nitrocyclohexene and (3) a process for partially hydrogenating (B) nitrocyclohexene in the presence of a catalyst (B) to give cyclohexanone oxime.
