    Abstract: The mechanically braked strip roller is for a winding appts. comprising a drum (8) with at least one gable (6) which rotates with it, and on the outside of which is a brake lining. The drum fits on a shaft (5), and on opposite sides of it are located non-rotatable plates movable axially and pressed by a spring (3) against the drum. The gable (6) is light and pliable, and with its brake lining runs right into the shaft.
