Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a composition for a shortstopper having various advantages of conventional short stopper, usable for inhibiting nitrosamine. SOLUTION: This composition for short stop contains a nitrosamine inhibitor which is a mono-(2-16C)alkylamine, a polyethyleneimine, pyrrole, indole, hydroquinone, catechol, ascorbic acid, polyoxymethylene or any derivative of these substances. This composition is useful for terminating free radical emulsion polymerization of a conjugated diene and an arbitrary vinyl monomer.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composition for termination, not only capable of effectively terminating a free radical polymerization reaction but also capable of imparting an improved stability to a rubber latex without providing bad effect to safety, health and environment. SOLUTION: This composition for termination contains at least one kind of hydrophilic radical scavenger (that is the terminator) and at least one kind of hydrophobic radical scavenger. Preferably, the composition targets the use in an emulsion process for a rubber latex. The composition exhibits excellent activities not only as the terminator of the free radical emulsion polymerization but also as the stabilizer for the corresponding polymer. Further, the composition can inhibit the additional polymerization even after stripping the polymer with steam without requiring the additional stabilizer. The composition can inhibit the polymerization without using chemicals having high risk on the safety, the health or the environment.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a finished resin composition containing (a) an unsaturated polyester, b) a polymerizable monomer, (c) a promoter system, and (d) a composite stabilizer; wherein the composite stabilizer is a hydroxylamine oxide and aromatic antioxidant and, optionally, a hydroxylamine and is present at 0.001-0.5 parts per 100 parts of the finished UPE resin. The stabilizing system improves processing stability by preventing ge l- particle formation, improved storage stability of the curing compositions by inhibiting formatio n of overhead popcorn and suppressing drifts of resin viscosity and gel time.

Abstract: The present invention is a composition for and a method of shortstopping free radical emulsion polymerizations that inhibits the formation of nitrosamines. The composition comprises nitrosamine inhibitors in combination with conventional alkylhydroxylamine shortstoppers. Such nitrosamine inhibitors are based on primary amines, amine-containing polymers, pyrroles, hydroquinones, certain phenols, ascorbic acid, and other well-known nitrosation inhibitors; they may be used individually or as a blend. The compositions are targeted for applications in the emulsion processes for producing rubber latexes and the preparation of rubber products thereafter.
