Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an incoming direction estimation apparatus in which a miniaturization and a cost reduction are possible, reliability and durability are excellent, and no calibration by no skillful technology, etc. are required. SOLUTION: In the incoming direction estimation apparatus, a joint switching means 20 controls the reactance set of varactor diodes 11-16 by control voltage sets CLV1-CLV6 so that an antenna element 7 and antenna elements 1-6 which element coupling may rotate the ambients of the antenna element 7. An array antenna 10 receives a received signal when the antenna element 7 and the antenna elements 1-6 which perform element coupling rotation ambients of the antenna element 7. A frequency shift detection means 40 detects the frequency shift spectrum of the incoming wave based on the received signal received from the antenna element 7 through a booster 30. Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve efficiency in routing on a wireless network and to remarkably shorten a route discovery time. SOLUTION: In a radio station provided with a variable beam antenna 15 capable of selectively switching the omni-pattern of a non-directional radiation pattern and a sector beam pattern which can be scanned by selectively changing a main beam in the form of sector for each prescribed azimuth angle within a horizontal plane with the present station as a center, when an RREQ signal is received from the radio station of a transmitting source while the variable beam antenna 15 is under waiting in the omni-pattern, the variable beam antenna 15 is scanned by a sector beam pattern to detect the arrival azimuth angle information of a sector to become a maximum receiving strength and while using the sector beam pattern of a sector on the back side substantially at 180° to the detected arrival azimuth angle information, the RREQ signal constituted by adding the radio station number of the present station and the arrival azimuth angle information is transmitted. Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a detector for an electric wave arrival direction detecting system and its control method, allowing accurate detection of the direction of the maximum received signal strength at all times. SOLUTION: Electric waves of transmission pulses emitted by a transmitter 1 are received while changing the direction of a receiving beam of the electric wave arrival direction detector 10 over all azimuth angles in detecting the maximum received signal strength, thereby, an electric wave arrival direction is detected. Herein, the pulse duration of the transmission pulses are set to be not shorter than a processing time period for receiving the electric waves while changing the direction of the receiving beam of the detector 10 over all azimuth angles in detecting the maximum received signal strength. A controller 35 of the detector 10 detects the rise of the transmission pulses and detects the electric wave arrival direction by receiving the electric waves while changing the direction of receiving beam of a detecting device over all azimuth angles since a detection point, in detecting the maximum received signal strength.
