Abstract: The airbag module comprises a reaction canister in the form of a trough with an open mouth for deployment of an airbag. A cylindrical inflator is longitudinally positioned within the trough of the canister between the end walls, one end of the inflator being a gas diffusing end, the gas diffusing end oriented towards the first end wall, the other end of the inflator being oriented towards the second end wall. An end cap has a centrally located orifice, the orifice being fixedly attached to the diffusing end of the inflator, the end cap abutting an inner surface of the first end wall. A module diffuser housing encircles the inflator lengthwise along the canister, and is releasably, lockably secured to the end cap and fixedly secured to the reaction canister. An inflatable airbag positioned in the reaction canister to receive inflation gas from the inflator. The inflator is a hybrid inflator.
