Abstract:
The vehicle 1 is intended for positioning a patient within a nuclear magnetic resonance machine 2. A base 59 on wheels 9 supports a carriage 7 which can be raised by a hydraulic cylinder. The patient lies on a cradle 8 which slides longitudinally on the carriage 7. A housing 5 on the machine 2 encloses a hydraulic motor which is coupled to drive a hydraulic pump on the vehicle 1 when the latter is wheeled into position. Portion 5a of the housing 5 is tapered to guide the vehicle into the correct position and incorporates a latching mechanism. The hydraulic system on the vehicle has interlocks to ensure that the carriage can be lowered and the vehicle undocked only when the cradle has been retracted onto the carriage. Also the cradle is locked unless the carriage is at the correct height.
Abstract:
For latching a tilt cab to a vehicle chassis (10) through an air spring (18) a pair of pivoted latch hooks (38) engage an annular catch (48). They are locked in engagement by the head (52) of a plunger (34) biassed to the locking position by spring (62). The plunger (34) can be released by hydraulic pressure applied at (60) and the latch hooks can then swing under the action of the spring (46) to the unlatched position. An annular actuating skirt (64) engages the tails (66) of the latch hooks to swing them into engagement as the cab descends onto the chassis.

Abstract:
The assembly is mounted on the tilt cab by base 136 and latches to the chassis by latch 20. Air bag 166 can be filled and emptied by conduit 168. Piston rod 148 coupled by universal joint 174 to base 136 carries piston 156 in damping cylinder 150. Fluid flows between cylinder 150 and reservoir 160 by multiple passages 162 and 164 at opposite ends of the cylinder and a one-way valve 176 controls flow through the piston. Numerous variants are described for use at front and rear of the cab including one-way valves and adjustable orifices controlling flow between the cylinder and the reservoir and flow through a by-pass connecting the ends of the cylinder. The reservoir may be separate. To lock the piston in the down position after deflating the bag a selectively operable valve is provided between the upper part of the cylinder and the reservoir.
