A skin-core fiber wherein the skin comprises a propylene ethylene copolymer having: : i) xylene soluble fraction from 14 wt% to 27 wt% ii) intrinsic viscosity of the fraction soluble in xylene at 25°C from 1.0 to 2.4 dl/g; iii) melt flow rate, MFR, from 1.0 g/10 min to 50.0 g/10 min; iv) an ethylene content from 5.0 wt% to 12.0 wt% v) the ethylene content on the fraction insoluble in xylene from 2.5 wt% to 6.0 wt%; vi) the ethylene content on the fraction soluble in xylene ranging from 15.2. wt% to 30.2 wt% vii) the C 13 NMR sequences PEP on the fraction insoluble in xylene from 3.5mol% to 5.5mol% and the sequences PEP on the fraction soluble in xylene from 11.0 mol% to 14.2 mol%; the core of the fiber comprises a polyethylene having a density between 0.940 g/cm 3 to 0.975 g/cm 3 .

The use of a propylene homopolymer for producing fibers; wherein the propylene homopolymer is characterized in that: - the melting point ranges from 150°C to 164°C; - the fraction soluble in xylene at 25°C is comprised between 6.0 wt% and 2.0 wt%; - the fraction soluble in acetone 25°C is comprised between 0.5 wt% and 2.0 wt%; - the ratio fraction soluble in xylene at 25°C/ fraction soluble in acetone 25°C is comprised between 30 wt% and 60 wt%; - the polydispersity index ranges from 2.8 to 4.5 the melt flow rate (ISO 1133, 230 °C/2.16 kg) is comprised between 2 to 40 g/10min.

A polyolefin composition for preparing fibres, comprising: A) 60-95% by weight of a propylene homo- or copolymer, or mixture of said homo- or copolymer; B) 5-40% by weight of a copolymer of butene-1 or a butene-1 polymer composition having: - a Melt Flow Rate value of from 20 to 100 g/10 min., measured according to ISO 1133 at 190°C with a load of 2.16 kg; - a copolymerized comonomer content from 4% to 15% by mole, referred to the total weight of B); - a Mw/Mn value equal to or lower than 4; - flexural modulus of 80 MPa or higher.
